That sounds okay. My problem with this sort of thing though is that it should always have a bigger impact than being a cool thing to pull out at parties / dramatic escapes. If someone found a way to make wagons fly, you can bet people would start researching that.
Comparatively we basically only ever see the Dalish in one light, and that's a bunch of amateur nomads sitting around a few static wagon things talking about days of bygone glory. There's cool stuff there if you're into it, but it doesn't get much camera time.
Well short of setting a whole game in a clan, what else would we do? There are different clans, but they aren't numerous, and they're all nomadic. In this game we've found out loads about their lore. It's just not necessarily what they'd've wanted to hear...

Apparently Dalish already do it all the time...?
But I guess this was a reveal how they got around. The character I mentioned wasn't Dalish herself, but she got the idea just from observing them. The story is about the last blight, and she thought it'd be a good way to evacuate people in large numbers.
As for research... the main problem is probably the duration. One cool thing about the book is it gets in the mind of a mage. She's constantly warding off the fade spirits/demons. Sustaining spells like that are dangerous and distracting.
