He's pretty badass though.

Surfer is just ridiculous..

I only got into Hulk just a few years ago and I began collecting his Tales to Astonish issues (I have the first Tales To Astonish issue framed and ready for my man-cave wall). I was more of a Captain America/Batman kid growing up and I collected those characters silver-age issues. I need to read the Surfer at some point.

Early Surfer is Stan Lee's attempt at.... poetry.

Sometimes it's actually good. Great artwork. Kind of more sci-fi than the rest of Marvel.

So they're separate characters? I thought it was some reboot.

Separate characters. Thor went through some crap that caused him a crap ton of self doubt and injury. It caused him to be unworthy to wield his hammer. FemThor found the hammer and is worthy of wielding it. But, Odin is beyond pissed about it.

Oh, and Superman would beat Hulk. They would simply give Superman a power that would enable him to do so and after a couple issues the power would be dropped and never talked about again. lol

I've read a few of the early ones, reprints, but it's a character I've neglected. I get scattershot with comics. I'll get into something: read a ton of issues and then some other piece of candy catches my eye, lol.

I haven't read much in awhile..

Last great thing I read is Preacher. If you haven't, check it out... Not superheroes, but it's badass.

Those were good. Loved the Hellblazer stuff. I only really like caped hero stuff from the golden age to the bronze. After that I tend more to occult and weird horror stuff.

lol how could I not? Preacher was amazing and Garth Ennis is a favorite writer of mine. One of my favorite  moments in comics is when The Russian came back with massive boobs and in a flower dress in the Pushier comics. That kind of crazy crap makes Garth great.

Whats it about

This doesn't do it justice, but it's about a small town preacher who gets a godlike power that kills with words.. and all of these freaks want to use him/kill him. edit: it's better if you read it..don't want to explain the plot too much

You forgot about his Irish Vampire companion and gun-totin, hard-fightin', ex-girlfriend.

If you liked Hellblazer, Monkey, then you'll like Preacher.

As someone who has never cared for Nirvana Ennis also took a bit of a swipe at the cult of Kurt that was much appreciated by myself when I read Preacher. It's a little hard to take though, lol. Be warned...

Yeah, I'm in various minds about the whole thing. Is awkward though.

Turns out you can just skip it though, if that helps.

Oh, that won't effect the romance if you skip it then? I just have a bad habit of needing to exhaust every bit of character dialogue I can in games.

Preacher remains one of my all time favorite comics, pure unadulterated Garth Ennis mayhem :-) His Punisher story arcs were also great, from the Marvel Knights to Marvel MAX titles. Also really loved Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughn, I've reread it so many times.
