Actually, it belongs to the ancient Elves. The Dalish contributed nothing to that pool of knowledge, so they have no right to it. Being the same species does not make you entitled to their knowledge. It's a completely different culture.

It would be like me finding an ancient library in France and claiming I had a right to it because I have French ancestry. It's more complicated than that.

The ancient elves failed the Dalish by remaining in selfish seclusion.

And word on the less power thing. I wouldn't mind the Inquisitors ridiculous power if it felt more questioned or ruthless in nature, but as it stands, kind of creepy and weird to me.

Why's that?

I really do like it. It really turns the whole series on it's head and there have been plenty of really cool moments that will have you scratching your head in disbelief. Thor was getting pretty stale before it started and I had stopped reading awhile ago. The new series pulled me back in. At this point I'm honestly hoping she gets to keep the hammer/powers for the long haul.

Interesting! Although that first few arcs of Aaron's Thor run, with the God Bomb, are some of my favorite Thor comics , so I wouldn't call them stale, unless you meant what happened after that (which I didn't read, just read those in trades)

I didn't pick it up mostly because I was afraid they'd revert it after awhile and then they'd sideline female Thor, as they tend to do with female characters, lmao, I got so tired of getting into new comics they touted as The New Big Lady Thing and then dropped quickly, but maybe I'll check it out, Marvel seems more committed to it than they have in the past.

see...this touches too close to real world things for me. i can't honestly say i'd be cool with my human inquisitor...or any other inquisitor that isn't Dalish drinking from that well. Sure once they've had access to it, share the knowledge. But i can't go in that temple and deny them that right and access to it first. i only trust it in Morrigan's hands when I'm not playing as Lavellan.

And also, it doesn't matter what that history is...even negative...it is their history...they deserve to know it first and foremost. i honestly can't see why this is debatable.

Qunari wouldn't care to preserve it. The culture, I mean. To them, magic is one thing. Danger. Saarebas = dangerous thing.

dont spout that qunari flith at me :P (patrice joke) refering to tal-vashoth but who goes into semantics bout terminology

Because one person seizing that much power in general is horrifying to me. At the end of Inquisition, you can have a leader who puppetmaster rules Orlais, is the vessel for all elven knowledge, ended the Mage/Templar war by forcing a side into servitude, exiled one of the oldest orders in the world (wardens), leads the largest and most effective organization which they claim by divine right, and is close friends with and a former boss of, the only other large organization in the world (the chantry). That's a recipe for a despot, even a well meaning one....and sure, your Quizzie may have rainbows coming out their ass and they may be a perfect leader who listens and allocates responsibility, but ... Idk. It bothers me, especially in a game that is often about doubt and the flaws in organizations that are top down like that (Wardens, Seekers, for example)

I didn't read much of Aaron's run because I had hit burn out before he started. So I might have to go back and read his work.

I'm still worried that they are going to sideline her at some point. But, there are hints that this will be a pretty long story arch simply because of all the hints they have dropped about how big of a change this really is. I mean when she picked up the hammer the quote engraved on it changed from Whoever wields this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor to Whoever wields this hammer, if she be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. There are other things that point to this being a major change as well. But, I don't want to spoil it for anyone. But, I will say it's not being built like another Beta Ray Bill, that is for sure.

Honestly I wish someone like Tamar from MP had been in the game as an NPC, because she's abrasively anti authoritarianism and her banters in MP about the Inquisition as a power mad organization are spot on as an assessment from someone who is not privy to all the goings on in the top level.

It's just a shame that we won't be able to play on having such power...

I never played multiplayer. That's cool. And how I feel about the poor people in this setting.

But that's why I loved playing that character because the level of power you can claim is horrifying!

It's so wrong on every single level, that makes it such a fascinating RP opportunity.

I can see the appeal.

I've been determined from the getgo to play more... reluctant goody good, I guess. I played too many a-holes in DAO.

I think that knowledge belongs, if to anyone, to the Dalish, first. It's their history. I mean the sentinels guard it...why? Maybe if I had a better reason for "why we must keep this information away from the people we enslaved" than "they're not pure or smart enough for it", I'd understand? It's not that humans shouldn't know it, it's that making a human be the vessel of it is kind of gross. Not that I think anyone who chose their Quizzie or Morrigan is gross, I don't play elves as much so I usually pick Morrigan, just that the idea it's the only choice unless you play Lav is annoying to me. I honestly would have rather destroyed it or preserved it somehow and beaten Cory without it. But that's not how it went, so shrug. It just frustrates me, it's my least favorite choice on the game.

Indeed it's our magical goo, hands off you damn dirty Shems! :P

The MP characters are all great. There's one character that's super rah rah Inquisition (the Templar), but by and large the group has complex feelings about it...a lot of doubt, anxiety, apathy, etc. It's way more interesting than those faceless crowds that cheer for you and need to be "protected by hope" or whatever. I don't like DAMP but the banter is fantastic.

Oh KS, I agree with you. It's awesome to play a ruthless, power hungry character. That's what RP is all about to me, being able to play a variety of characters. I just wish the game had called it what it was, lmao, instead of having everyone kiss your ass no matter what you did. Made my noble and ruthless PTs way too similar.
