German culture has some strange notions of how to do that. My personal favorite is Krampus.

-snip-

German culture has influenced a lot of dark things such as Film Noir.

I have officially gotten to New Vegas and am having a lot more fun with the game so thanks thread for giving me the push.

I am super confused about why the White Glove society hates me so much. Geez you make ONE joke about cannibalism. Welp, guess I know one faction who isn't surviving the robot Apocalyse, or whatever that happy robot told me is gonna happen.

Kill them all, cannibals are always bad news.

Oh, you keep this up and I might have to remove the wrapper from this game.

Do it, it's a good game. ^^

Is there no way to get them to chill? I thought if you wore faction armor you could talk to them but no deal.

I don't think so. Once you expose them, that's it. Their faction gear is pretty dapper though.

I got my perfect list planned: Sera, Cass, Morrigan (Dorian as the backup).  :D

Fallout is the only game where I can happily go the evil route. Eating people is damn useful. I prefer to keep my kin alive and full.   :P

I didn't mean it was bad and if by Film Noir you mean the work of people like Fritz Lang who later went to Hollywood to make noirish classics like "Scarlet Street" then yes. Of course he eventually left for Germany after we drove him batshit crazy with our commie witch-hunts.

*he also made some fun movies involving a German arch-criminal called Dr. Mabuse which are worth seeking out. The original may be the one the film snoobs all rush to but I personally get a bigger kick out of cheese like "Tausend Augen der Dr. Mabuse" which he made in the 60's.

Oh, I didn't say it was bad either.

Film Noir was influenced heavily by German Expressionism, which uses a lot of twisted imagery, dark, psychological effects and stuff which focuses on getting into the mind. I can see why he left for Germany.

I prefer going with Good Karma but, I can also happily go Bad Karma, unlike every other game with a morality system.

Also, That Gun is amazing.  ^_^

It got worse. Bertolt Brecht came here during the war years. Probably would have remained. However the house un-American activities committee accused him of being pro-Soviet for statements he'd made before war with Germany. Essentially for being anti-Fascist before it was hip. He ended up in East Germany. That's a simplistic version of what happened and there are fuller accounts you can read but yeah the whole attitude towards culture in the 50's was pretty bad on the part of our political elite (is it any better?).

Evil karma options are so dickish that I find it difficult to choose them...it's painful.

I always have That Gun as either main weapon or side weapon. It's always in my inventory.

Yup, I tried it and liked it, but...That Gun has shiny green lights, can't beat that. :D

Update: I killed a few more of them and then they let me stay?? So I freed the kid and told his dad not to blacklist vegas of all food. Was looking forward to telling the Mortimer guy that I own him now, but he disappeared. :(

This game is ridiculous. I love how many different ways you can solve things. I'm picking bad ideas every time just to pick them. Like you can bang Benny, what the heck?

Other reasons as well. Not just political. For example, the Second World War had ended. Woman took over the mens jobs and weren't going to go back to being housewives and living of the men. America got very rich, very quickly after the war. Hollywood helped. (The same material used to create film is also used to create gunpowder - whilst the other countries involved in the war were making guns and bullets and things used in the war effort, America was also using it to make films.) Because of this, people suddenly had more wealth. They could afford bigger homes. Cars. Luxuries etcetera. From this, the "Teenager" was born. Before the war, teenagers didn't exist. After the war, you now have these young people with wealthier parents, so they got things like pocket money, food, clothing... all from their parents. This created a new market for goods. You also had the Cold War in everyones minds. The idea that it could become a Hot War.

Then you had things like The Civil Rights Movement. Everyone becoming equal.

There was also the space race happening. Television was now more popularised. Advertisements and huge events were now able to be broadcast to nearly everyone. People no longer had to just listen and accept what leaders were telling them.

There were a lot of things influencing culture during the 50s.
