I just would have preferred if she wasn't designed to divide our own thread. I was going to write more but really it's all been said before and I would rather not start it again.

Hell with that. Speak your peace as Malcolm would say.

It's dumb agreed and I don't have that high of an opinion of the DA fanbase as it is buuuuut if Alistair beats Cass it will drop even further.

YOOOOOO LEEEEEEEV ALISTAIR ALUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN >8(

But yeah, a character popularity contest is dumb. There's nothing to be gained, and in a worst-case scenario, it just empowers the most crazy of BioWare's fans to use it as justification for raging at people who like characters they don't, or don't like characters that they do.

Frankly, I'm genuinely surprised that anyone at BioWare even thought this was a good idea. I plan to ignore it as much as humanly possible, and relentlessly mock those who attempt to use it as justification for their opinions (which many people will.)

That's fair. For me it's not at all feasible to not drive, but I'd skate to work if it were an option. :P

I was thinking about getting a pair of skates again. Not ice skates. The ones with wheels. Only problem is, there is a damn bridge I have to get over.

I bug people for not liking Bull, but I hope y'all would tell me if I ever got out of line.

You still haven't called people names because they dislike Bull (or at least not seriously), so you're good.

I think they equate Rogues with ahem, being loose. Just look at Zev and Bella.

Which is something I despise. It's not like there are gay people who are not "loose" and are actually quite introvert/cagey. Nah, not at all. I mean, they can't be varied and diverse like straight people, right?

(Note: I'm not directing this towards you, Storm, I know you didn't say this. It's more of a general discussion.)

Rollerblades are fun. I should go again this summer.

Hmm. I guess I was trying to question how important general likability is over other considerations, but it's not an easy thing to distill.

I've come to the view that people need heroes before they need subversions, but I don't know how well that works as a rule.

Dammit Dani. Every time I see your avi, it makes me want to play LiS again. I want to but I don't want to. I don't want to find out what the other choices do yet, until I've played through the entire story. But... the game is calling to me...

Ouch, yeah. My first and only ever accident was with a hydrant because of black ice. Winter driving is the worst. But I refuse to spend 3 hours on a bus daily because we have the worst transit system on the world.

I don't like people enough to have them invade my bubble for hours at a time.

The bus system isn't bad here. We have a highway that goes from one end of the valley to the other. So, if I was to drive to one of the other "cities" to visit my buddy, its a 20min drive or a 30 to 40min bus ride. Also, the bus only really gets full once during the morning and again around 5pm. Even than you are not picked in like sardines. Really it's nothing like a the bus in a big city. No way in hell I'd take the buss if it was.

I used to have several pairs back when I was younger. Loved them but eventually stopped using them for reasons I can't remember. They were great though. Had loads of fun using them.

It's ok Artemis. The fact of the matter is I'm not a woman, nor am I lesbian. To say I know how you feel etc would be a blatant lie.

It's more that lgbt people are usually portrayed in media as people with loose morals, deviants, joke characters and the like. So, having a lgbt character be a paragon of justice and goodness would actually be a subversion more than anything.

That's why I personally don't have a problem with Sera as a character. I don't expect gays or lesbians to be anything other than attracted to people of their own sex. You're all people to be judged on actions you may take that actually have an impact on the wider world, not the people with whom you consensually choose to have sex.

That said, I understand why as the first lesbian-only DA romance she can be seen as problematic. I hope that in a few years we'll be able to look back on her as just one of a wide variety of lesbian romances in DA and other Bioware games, and that these issues will then matter less.

Well, if we demand enough, we could very well get that in the next BioWare game. F*ck the haters. The worlds gotta change sooner or later.

That bisexual trope needs to die. Pretty thankful for a character like Leliana, she's bi, enjoys sex but damn once she falls for your warden is she loyal and devoted.

It's a damn good bottle.

I bet, just did some boozing the other day. Got me some seasonal Peach Ale along with a bottle of Malibu. It was a good night... but a bad morning.

it was a joke. geez

Besides the whole thing is bound to turn into a high school level popularity contest. No way I'd want to take part in that kind of crap anyway.

I don't know, it's really hard for me to answer as my opinions are so wrapped up in how low of an opinion I had of myself for such a long time that now I crave any positives I can get and feel sad with every negative. Damn was that a bit of a downer. Sorry for the dramatics.
