the DLCs, if you brought him along, did a good job of fleshing out Carver's arc, especially if you brought him along during act 2 or early act 3, shrug. It didn't like, magically make it appear, because he already had an arc.

Carver's one of my favorite characters, like Sera, because he doesn't kiss your ass. What can I say, I love me some brats.

I said people in general, not you specifically.

I was following up on your comment. I have no idea how you talk about her. I've barely read this thread.

Oh, I wasn't taking it particularly personally, I just don't think there's some kind of binary where if you talk about the larger social/representation issues of Sera as a lesbian, it's because you're not taking the time to appreciate her complexity, or whatever, which is what I felt like your post implied.

Self-interested I agree with although I am not so sure that's necessarily a bad thing or exclusive to her among party members. Viv sure is. Bull admits ulterior motives for joining. I also would quibble with describing her as "shady" as it's not like you're taking on some felon (not like when you take on Zaeed in ME 2. Now that guy is "shady"). You're taking on an immature prankster with half-baked ideas about what's best for the commons. If you mean by "stagnant" that we don't see more evolution on that score by the end of the game then I agree. Let's hope we see it in the dlcs.

If we get one.

A group like the Friends of Red Jenny aren't squeaky clean, a spot of thievery here and there to help out such a person, she even talks about "plonking" a few nobles who got too big for their boots, taking justice into their own hands, their sense of justice. She was quick to kick that one noble to death if you didn't prevent her from doing so, not the first time she's done it I'm sure. Sera is pretty shady but that doesn't bother me, I'm a big fan of Lels the bard afterall. :D

Weirdly enough I liked all the party members in this game, that is a first for me in this franchise as there is always one or two I really don't like for whatever reason. Great cast imo and happy to see more of em in future DLCs too.

It is a great cast, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Blackwall...sorry Veeia.. but yeah I would love to have more of them.

I'm really only hopeful for Sera growth in DLCs because Lukas did such a good job of that with Carver. But honestly, since the next game isn't going to be a direct sequel, and since there is little to no chance of Sera playing a big role after this game (I mean it could happen but....considering how "disposable" she is, I doubt it)...post game DLC is really the only chance they have to play with that. If they don't....I mean, obviously I'll always love her and consider her well-written, but it would seem like wasted potential.

:crying:  I really hope we get more and a character growth thing... I don't want her potential wasted...

You're cool, little daughter. <3 this family welcomes difference of opinions. Blackwall def isn't for everyone, as evidenced by him being the least popular character along with Sera and Vivienne, and I def feel less defensive of him than those two.

that said I've been thinking that I may run a playthrough with a qunari to romance him... maybe dump him after the reveal and go for Jose or Sera... but for now I have to finish my elf man run and my solas-run i started

Well at least Blackwall and Sera can join forces as the BFFs they are and hate on Viv. Of course she easily verbally eviscerates em both but at least they have each others back.

Yea, at least they tried though. I wanted to join in when they started in on Viv. If only banter was more interactive.

Sera gets her with a stink bomb (or something similar) though. Words are not the only non-lethal weapons. ;)

Blackwall and Sera's friendship is probably my favorite NPC friendship in all the games, alongside maybe Isabela and Merrill. She definitely brings out a better side of him, and his easy acceptance/enjoyment of her when everyone else is such asses...cry. Love them together. On my Blackwall romance PT it felt like she was their adopted niece or something.

Oh, I wasn't taking it particularly personally

You said "I have devoted pages and pages" talking about "how I feel about her," which wasn't putting social responsibility on her shoulders. That's what gave me the impression you were taking what I said out of context as a personal criticism of you. I referred to the people who hate her character, the ones you had referred to in the post that I quoted.

I just don't think there's some kind of binary where if you talk about the larger social/representation issues of Sera as a lesbian, it's because you're not taking the time to appreciate her complexity, or whatever, which is what I felt like your post implied.

I'm not sure how you got that impression, since I never said anything like that. There are a lot of people on BSN who criticize her constantly for failing to represent their politics. It was those people that I was talking about.

I did enjoy those lil moments when Inquisy could comment on banter between companions, like when you had to break up the Sera n' Viv back and forth over your relationship or when others comment on Sera shacking up with the boss. Liked those lil touches.

There was a great Viv/Cass one that you could join in with about getting Cass in a dress...

Yup. Money, influence, brand recognition. Sometimes a good narrative, and not the actual text's narrative, but a created one about the producers of it or actors involved, etc. Those kinds of things are interesting to watch but rarely reflect my tastes so I take them with a grain of salt.
