Tbh i hold all the peoplw stay where they are if we go north... i say full clean slate. Everything new, lands, characters, magic, creature, lore. The whole shabang

While I would love to see some characters return and kill to be able to step back into my Warden's boots, I think moving the series north and having a more or less clean slate would be a good idea.

I'd like that but I don't think it's going to happen. Personally I wish that they could set something like 100 years later or whatever but obviously you run into problems there because of the title of the franchise. I don't think they do a great job of bridging games though, so I'd rather have clean slate, but I think the best we can hope for is that they get better at the bridging. Maybe moving far away will be a good step towards that!

I think we can expect them to close the book on the Quiz and not bring back Cass, Cullen, Josie, or Leliana largely because those all have important things to do in south Thedas.

But I would not be surprised to see Dorian or Bull pop up in a story about Tevinter even if they have a minor role like Hawke did in this one. But I think there will be a raft of new characters/creatures whatever they do.

I would be more interested in seeing minor Inquisition characters pop up again, like Harding or Calpernia. ...I have no idea how they'll get Harding there, but calpernia would be amazing and fit in well. I love her.

Just finished reading the 'Sera as a goddess' theory. I'll give it this much- if that turns out to be the case then it means this was very carefully planned in advance and executed with great subtlety.

As for the next game, I think it's highly unlikely we'll see a complete departure from previous characters. I mean, as the series currently stands you can essentially play six degrees of Kevin Bacon with any DA character of note and connect them to anyone else. It seems almost certain that we'll have returning characters in support roles and possibly one or two as party members.

I do however agree that I'd like to see a new locale the next time around. I think Antiva has a lot of potential. (There may well be books or other fiction already set there but I'm only familiar with the games.)

All signs point to Tevinter/Par Vollen, even dev remarks. I would love Antiva or Rivain though.

Re: the theory. I think it's reaching a lot. Most of their points can be explained by things already existing in the game....but it's a fun meta experiment, and if it does pop up, at least there is that stuff to point to it not being a huge retcon or whatever.

Lol! My name sake is his wife, due to a last name coincidence and my parents thinking they're incredibly witty.

Sorry, I'm just amused that you chose his name specifically.

The Templar Order...? Or Duncan...? As far as I know, every Warden that was there before the Hero of Ferelden joined died at Ostagar. There is nobody left that knew Alistair before we met him for the first time.

I'm joking. You can have a conversation with Alistair about his upbringing and he teases you that he was raised by dogs. Giant slobering dogs from the Anderfels.

What is this 'new 52' you speak of? The DC universe is continuing just fine. Yup. No reboot ever happened.

(...Okay, more of a Marvel fan actually but this kind of stuff is why. Hard for me to get invested in a universe when editorial has the basic philosophy that you should reboot continuity every so often. I'm sick of hearing about the early years of Batman and Superman's careers. Yes, it's an interesting idea but it's also been done to death. Just let your characters finally grow into other roles.)
