"Ay-up, me duck!"
I've know idea what that means but didn't Angelina Jolie use it quite recently?

XCOM hates me.
RNG hates me.
My PC hates me.
Life hates me.
I don't know which, but HOLY HECK, ONE OF THOSE HATES ME WITH A REAL PASSION.

Ay up me duck!
I think it could be roughly translated into "Hello there, my dear"
It's a slang from the area where Sera's VA comes from (and she used her natural accent, too, as I recall) - something also tells me Uncle isn't too far off that general area...? Well, if "general area" translates into a hundred mile radius.
Yes because she was giving an award to someone from Derbyshire. Robyn Addison is also from Derbyshire. Actually she tweeted a link to the Angelina Jolie story when it broke...I've know idea what that means but didn't Angelina Jolie use it quite recently?

So it's relevant. That's good. Now I just need to find a font that works. I might have to make the background a lot darker so that you can see the text.
What about adding drop shadow? So it's relevant. That's good. Now I just need to find a font that works. I might have to make the background a lot darker so that you can see the text.

I suppose I could give it a try. I'm not really a fan of adding drop shadows though.
I saw you mention Belgian ancestry earlier. My grandma was from Antwerp so I'm quarter Belgian myself by blood...Yuppers. Uncle is Yorkshire, I live in Derbyshire about ten miles from where Robyn is from. So I understand such local dialect stuff. Most of the time! I'm really a shandy drinking southerner, of course.
Okay. I'm thinking something like this:

Obviously that is not all of the text. Just trying to get a feel for it.

So, with this, unlike the postcard design I did last time, I want this to come across as a little more serious and to the point. Sure, some fun stuff such as the "Ay up me duck" is fine because it's relevant and it does, in it's own little way, get to the point. It's a "funny" greeting and it's something Sera would likely say if she were real.
Unlike the postcard, the typeface is a lot cleaner. I want people to be able to read it.
Edit:
Would be nice if I could get any feedback? Maybe you don't think the font works. Maybe you don't like the darker background. Anything really.

The image is nice but the text looks off to me. The font is modern, though maybe that's better than pseudo medieval. I feel a direct quote from her would make more sense as well.
Oh and SE, I think you're right about the potential for a bridged narrative between games being so great that it's worth the experimentation. I think what I maybe haven't taken into consideration is that DA: I was such a bigger attempt at doing that than da2, so they had a lot more opportunities to have issues (and successes) and then learn from those. Hopefully they'll carry some of that knowledge over to DA4 and improve on it!
I felt Inq did a really bad job of connecting to the previous games. So much of the previous stuff we worked with is either ignored or janked around. The Grey Wardens in particular, where after building up Amarthine's Wardens into the most fabulous fighting force outside of Orlais we find they've vanished for terrible plot reasons (a nightmare?! FFS). Which is annoying because Inq's scope is so much bigger, there's room for a lot of growing elements from our game history to be included.
Still want them to keep trying, and I'm glad they made the Keep a thing.

I have to agree. I'll try it with one of her greeting quotes.
Just my opinion and I still really like Caps format for a name change.
Caps format?

Whoa, I stay away for a day and all the things happen.
I'm just going to address a couple of things:
To Lady Artifice: don't feel guilty over what happened, you were actually extremely polite and kind towards someone who didn't deserve it, that's commendable and you're a great person for showing such understanding and compassion.
To Xilizhra: I wish your girlfriend and her friend (and you, obviously) all the best, I hope that everything will get better soon. I usually only speak for myself, but I feel confident that the others will agree with me when I say that if you ever need us for support, we're here for you, always.
About the thread title change: 1) can we keep the "seranade" part? 2) as long as we're doing this to give the thread a breath of fresh air and not to appease the haters, by all means, let's do it.
Having said that I have to disappear for a while longer, got stuff to do. See ya'll later, ladies and gents! ![]()

Edit: maybe with a 'Welcome to' before
I quite like it to. I don't think anyone has anything against it so perhaps we will end up going with that.
I saw you mention Belgian ancestry earlier. My grandma was from Antwerp so I'm quarter Belgian myself by blood...
My maternal grandmother is from Mechelen (which the French call Malines, though I guess that's not really their fault). So same-ish area. Funny, huh?

I agree with the other comments that an actual Sera quote and a more 'fantasy' font would be better, but it sounds like you're onto this already!
