I guess Dalish superfan was little mean. Sorry if I offended you. I guess I was talking about these forum goers who excuse every negative thing that the Dalish do and think Bioware has some kind of vendetta against them. That's probably not you, I think. 

 

I'm not offended, just perpetually baffled when I see these claims, because in my experience, people can't talk about the Dalish here in a context besides "lol they suck" without a band of people jumping on them with "lol elves suck kill all dalish unless they submit to forced poverty under the will of  the superior humans" for pages, which doesn't exactly foster an environment where you can discuss flaws with a lot of nuance so the defensiveness there seems like a created response. Which is annoying and why I avoid those kinds of threads even though I would love to talk about the Dalish more, including their flaws.  

 

(and I wouldn't use the word vendetta, because that implies some kind of intent and desire to hurt), but I do think that Bioware has done a poor job with them, especially in Inquisition, so shrug.)

 

Anyway, I think people who would be upset about Sera being Andruil because of the Dalish angle would have a legit complaint. However, my bigger concern would be how it would effect her character overall, and I don't think it'd be the best angle for her, but, I'll reserve "final" judgment on both parts until said event does or does not occur, haha.

Dalish elves seem to be one of those subjects, like for example communism and capitalism in the real world, where any attempt to give some sort of nuanced opinion is drowned out by those shouting from one extreme or the other...

I dont mind communism its a form of gov't that ideally works for the betterment of all but as mortals we strive for more beyond our station. Capitalism gives us that chance but most aren't cut out for that... to say either is perfect is beyond my station

discussing the Dalish hits too close to real world for me. i avoid it as much as i can. i have the eyes to see both sides of the coin but i have low tolerance for people that state their opinion as fact. happens quite a bit on this board. which is precisely why i've withdrawn from here....well one of the reasons.

i get that(in theory since havent exp your exp) it does dredge up some issues i have but it helps me to discuss them(catharis i guess) as for the users posting as fact... think thats just people being asshats

It annoys me when peoples do that at the best of times but on an issue like the Dalish where we clearly don't have all the facts? I just back off...
