Even educational networks are releasing this garbage. Science channel, Discovery, History channel all of them are releasing horrible reality series like Gator boys, Appalachian outlaws ( a show about hillbilly criminals stealing Ginseng roots ).Yeah, I hope that trend stops..
I guess it's cheap to make them. But immensely profitable.. so it probably won't stop.

Yeah, I know.. lol. I don't even warch regular TV anymore. If those channels have good things, I just end up finding them on Netflix.
What's worse is that people now care about these idiots and they make a lot of news. Like they're important or something. Kim Kardashian, that bearded dude from the Duck Dynasty show.. wtf

Haha, take the time to look for the Duck Dynasty guys before the show. All wearing Polo shirts, playing golf and driving sports cars they are so fake, but people idolize them. They changed themselves for that show, how they look and what they believe. They disgust me.Yeah, I know.. lol. I don't even warch regular TV anymore. That's a two edged sword. Sure, they're popular for now, but eventually they'll get the other side of fame and that is to be harassed and ridiculed. I think the appeal of these people is that Joe Average can laugh at how pathetic they are and feel better about himself. It's like making fun of the uncool kids at school, except on a wide scale.
To elaborate on the uncool kid at school: if they are so uncool, why give them so much (negative) attention? To distract from the fact you're nothing special yourself. (I'm using the generic 'you' here.)
The phenomenon is older than dirt. Why do you think people went to see freaks in carnivals?

History Channel is weird.
Sometimes they still manage to get some good programming in. And the woman who runs the network is a fairly well known historian (of US history at least). Then they go 180 and crank out Ancient Aliens and shows about lumberjacks or some ****.

Right! agh it's so annoying. I dont think I've seen any historical show on there in years now... at first it was just Ice Road truckers, which was kinda interesting... but then it spiraled out of control....

10 to 15 years ago my friend used to refer to it as the "Hitler Channel" based on their programming.
I do confess to watching Vikings (which is riddled with historical holes, and fabrications) but that turned out to be more fun than I expected when I first tuned into it.

Well, they had two recent things that were OK. About the Gilded Age entrepreneurs (Rockefeller, etc) and a show about Houdini.
But that's it.

They Just did a three episode special about the Revolutionary War. Normally I wouldn't of been impressed, but they focused on people never before given the attention they deserve.Well, they had two recent things that were OK.
