(fwiw there I didn't think of that off the top of my head, just was searching for nonessential products (which could thus be packaged as ~luxury~, because the 80s were so WEALTH WEALTH LUXURY! BIG! EXCESS!!! in a lot of ways so i figured that'd be an interesting contrast to the 60s, I'm sure you could find tons of examples)

Has that drink ever been advertised towards males by any chance? It would be interesting to analyse why it changed direction. If not, no matter. I'm sure there is a lot in there to compare and analyse. Thank you for being quick as well.

Yeah, there is a lot to talk about in the 80's image. I'm not entirely sure about the 60's besides a different art style and that it's advertising towards women.

It has, definitely. Like today it does for sure, and on my quick google search I saw a Pierce Brosnan Bond advert, which is 90s. Couldn't tell you about earlier though, that'd require more research and I'm off to bed...but it would be interesting to find out. It's possible tequila was first branded as a girly drink and then broadened for wider appeal, but I honestly have no idea, sorry!

Bah, if you could read that small type I bet it would say a lot, because the art style itself is definitely pushing a different image, but I can't find a better one off hand. Good luck with whatever you find! Comparative generational advertising is pretty interesting IMO!

Thank you very much for the quick assistance. I was stumped on what to do for this project/presentation and now I'm not so stumped.

One thing I notice now is more racial mixing in American adverts. Mixed families and such. It's nothing new, but the acceptance of it is a sign of the times.

 

That's being seen more and more in the UK as well. It feels good.
