yup got grounded for buying them... in hindsight probably my first pack... the irony hahaThey even had those when I was a kid (the 80s). It had a little powder that you could blow out and pretend to smoke.

A bit of trivia: The real guys who did the Marlboro Man ads died of lung cancer.
edit: Or not all lung cancer, but various smoking related causes.

Any conversation about cigarette ads is not complete without at least mentioning Joe Camel. It was pretty much the same setup as a lot of vintage ad's and surprisingly it lasted longer than expected. A lot of the ads where inspired from cig ads from back in the day.

I don't know any brands really, but sure.
You could compare the early 90s when smoking started to be known as dangerous and the 70s when it was prime.

The guy Don Draper is based on, "Draper Daniels," who worked for Leo Burnett was one of those guys.

Personally, when I started smoking (don't worry, i quit), it was movies that influenced me as a kid. Not ads.
Like Robert Deniro in Goodfellas
I think back in the day, that could be the case too. James Dean, Audrey Hepburn... both had a lot of iconic imagery with cigarettes.

The first time I ever tried smoknig was about 6 months ago. My friend Em is English and rolls her own cigarettes instead. It didn't smell as foul as normal cigarettes do so I tried a drag.
I despised it, it was awful. I'm so glad I didn't like it. I do like hookah though, that's nice. But I've only tried hookah once.
