Depends on Sera's personality, I suppose. For a Dalish, Dwarf, or Vashoth, the person is gaining power, becoming the commander of a human army in an unprecedented way. The protagonist can understand precisely what it's like to be a member of a group who are ostracized or marginalized in the human dominated societies of Thedas.

I think she would still distrust the Inquisitor as someone with power even if an elf.

Nothing we've heard about her so far would suggest she's more wary of humans b/c humans.

Same goes for Dorian, I have been on other forums and you would not believe the following these two have just because they are the first 100% gay romance companions in a Bioware game (not counting Juhani and not counting Traynor and Cortez since they were NPCs) Just seems like over kill to make the first 2 gay companions race gated on top of that since we have had both straight and bi romances before with no restrictions before in the past.

I'm not saying Sera would necessarily be wary of humans (and I tend to see more people suggest that Sera would be gated against elves or another non-human group in threads rather than humans), but I don't see why Sera would necessarily distrust a protagonist who can relate to the same hardships she might have faced and who may have similar concerns that might also matter to Sera.

The way I see it, is Sera will be wary of the Inquisitor (regardless of their race) at first as a matter of course. That is, she isn't someone who trusts too easily and has no reason to believe she should make an exception for the Inquisitor. I don't necessarily believe it would be due to the Inquisitor's position of power (though that could be part of it) rather than Sera's own instinct.

We've seen similar instances in previous BW games, where a companion will be wary of the PC at first before becoming besties with them. This is likely what we're getting with Sera.

Romances that are a challenge are the most rewarding

If Sera is gonna be race-gated, its because her writer wants to tell a certain story.

It would upset alot of people that had certain playthroughs planned ofcourse, but that's just how things go sometimes.

I doubt that she would be race-gated, but do you  have any evidence that she may be.

Do any character have evidence to be race-gated?

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any evidence about who will end up being gated for players, and we don't know when this will change.

It doesn't really make sense to make the exclusively gay characters race gated, since they are already gated by sex. I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt Bioware would do that/

We don't actually know which of the LIs are race gated, do we? Like, any of them? I know I read something about how Iron Bull was originally intended to be, but that was scrapped. I hope Sera isn't, because yeah, that just makes it harder and harder.

all we know is that the bi options (Iron Bull and Josephine) can be romanced by ANY race, I think the straight romances have a better chance

of being gated than the gay ones and I say this cause we know a little bit more about the straight ones (Cass and Cullen) since they have been in

the series before we know Cullen finds human and elf females attractive but because of his religious beliefs he may not be into dwarfs and qunari,

Cass might only be into humans or only elves since she didn't seem to fond of qunari in DA 2 or dwarfs for that matter (but that might of just been

her not liking varric). The only way I could see Sera gated against humans is cause of how humans treat elves, but in past games we have had

both city and dalish elves (companions or npcs) that show interest in humans so we know its possible for elves to look pass that. She might not be

into dwarfs or qunari cause maybe she simply doesn't find them attractive? (please take note that I plan to romance her not only as a human but also a qunari so I hope and firly believe she won't be gated at all). Dorian is already seen as an outcast and a pariah so he may not care about race. Then you have the last two which is a whole different discussion, Bioware has hinted that the 2 race gates are not the last two but this could of

been PR talk, Bioware would never admit the fans got it right before they made the announcement, that would also explain why they are waiting so

long to announce them. I believe someone earlier said that Bioware had alluded to that the 2 race gates are one of the confirmed LIs and one of

the unannounced LIs? If they did say that I'd like to see the statement but it may of just been that poster making a prediction or an assumption. In

conclusion I hope the 2 race gates are the last 2 and not any of the ones already announced since having both race gates and gender gates on a

LI seems like over kill no matter what reason they give.

wow why does my post look so ugly also was reading an article from earlier this month and this guy made some good points and he had this to say about Sera.

"Sera lives up to her title because she is legitimately "The Wildcard" in this capacity. All we really know for certain about her character is that she is apparently super awesome, she has an amazing giggle snort and is a former member of the mercenary group, Friends of Red Jenny. We also know from Sera's character summary that she is very much a creature of the moment. “She is not about what’s right, she is about what’s right now.” Assuming that her nature is as wild and free as it sounds, I don't foresee this playful, Elven rogue as having a problem with something as trivial as race."

We also dont know if the remaining LI's are straight or bi, and if they're bi it would make more sense for them to be race gated...Maybe.

Well in the same article the woman who wrote it said her choices were Dorian (cause of the war between Tevinter and the Qunari) and thats really the only reason she gave but this is what she said for Cullen

"Anyone that played DA Origins as a female mage knows all to well the charms of the former shy and stammering Knight Templar. As a mage, you could play either as a human or an elf, and both races could easily get their flirt on with Cullen. Based on conversations with Cullen in Dragon Age 2, he obviously has negative feelings towards the Qunari and if his remarks towards Orghren in Dragon Age Origins is any kind of reflection of his opinions of Dwarves, he is clearly not very fund of them either. Potentially, this makes him a really good candidate for race gating, while still leaving him relatively available for a lot players."

Bioware said they would give each sexuality equal options. So far they have done that.

They have however, never said that they would provide equal distribution when it comes to races.

The posts were within minutes of each other and are right after each other. This gives the impression that the post was directed towards him even though that was not the intention.

You can carry on with the topic of Sera being completely awesome now.
