i dont have a issue with implants if you feel you need them and can afford them go for it. Live up to your ideal of beauty. Personally prefer the petite sizes

The issue is that many women are not living up to their ideal of beauty, they are trying to live up to  the medias ideal beauty. It's why so many women, especially here in the states, have negative self image issues. You shouldn't have to get implants to feel comfortable in your own skin. But, the media says an ideal woman has DD's. So many women rush out to get implants. Because they are not the media's ideal woman without them. Or they end up starving themselves in order to fit the medias standard. That's why I don't like implants. I want a woman who loves who she is and is comfortable in her own skin. Not a woman that is chasing after an ideal beauty that some fashion magazine says is the ideal woman.

I guess that applies to everyone though. I happen to like unique noses.. or just a crook in the nose. Or whatever.

But someone might feel pressured that isn't ideal. I say that's bullshit.

I think that's a big issue. I don't really see it with the DD's so much as with this sort of absurd every gal has to be size 0 like a run way model. It's ridiculous. Attractive gals come in all shapes, sizes, nationalities, ethnicities and not all of them are even cisgender. Throw the door wide open and there is a lot of beauty out there.

The main problem with weight is health and lifestyle. But you could still be overweight and hot. I just think aftter a certain point, that doesn't work anymore. It's not even about making people live up to ideals as just encouraging health and their best selves.

I just see a difference between health and a standard of beauty is all. Sure, promote health but when you promote one type of figure or look as the "gold standard" that's being hurtful and it's also narrow and rather limiting.

Thankfully things are turning in the right direction in the media though. Someone like Ashley Graham would have never made it onto the Sports Illustrated swim suit issue from the 70s to the early 2000. But, she still got slapped with the plus sized label, once again proving we have a ways to go.

I agree.

I don't even think it's possible for people to meet one standard. We're all built different, even when we're in top shape. Someone might work hard, and still get crap for still being "too big" or having big shoulders or whatever.

What's wrong with the label?

I don't use it, but just curious. She's got a gut, love handles, etc.. It seems like "plus" to me.

But she's hot.

I sometimes listen to a local sports talk station on the way in to work because it's good background noise and sometimes I am interested in the Eagles chatter. They were discussing Kate Upton on that cover once, and this is how I found out about her, and the host was like "she's a fat pig! I can't believe they put a fat pig on the cover!" Awful stuff so I went and googled her and saw a perfectly fine and lovely young woman and so it's that kind of attitude in and from the media or just even from guys thinking they can judge or set the standard that is just wrong. I thought the host was an asshat after that.

A lot of people use the label plus size as a way to "nicely" call a woman fat and unattractive. Also, it goes back to the media promoting a negative self image. Because if you are not skin and bones, you are plus sized.

Fair enough. I just thought it was something beyond both skinny and "average". I think the bigger problem is even when those average women (and especially girls) feel the need to starve themselves.

I so dislike tge term average it implies a universal ideal. Imo "average" is the best

The whole issue hit's close to home for me. My mother battled a very bad negative self image issue for years. I also last a friend who was like a sister a few years back due to the fallout of her negative self image issue. She ended up getting implants, other work done and towards the end, she became a hardcore anorexic. Her body simply started to give out. If you had seen her before things started to get bad, you would have had a hard time wrapping your head around the idea that she even had negative self image issues. She could have been a alternative model and raked in massive amounts of cash doing it.

If you can come up with a better word, I'm all ears. I just mean more or less in line with Body Mass Index. It's not meant to be ideal... like some greek god/goddess.
