I didn't say she encouraged such homophobic views in you. I was speaking in general, about something I encounter all the time. But you said it that you thought before that gay women aren't into men sexually, which I suspect was based on your understanding of your own sexuality as a straight man, of being just into women, but thanks to her you apparently started thinking it's a lot more complicated for gay women.

 

I'm not trying to attack you. Just wanted to ask you, if you would consider a man who enjoys having sex with other men straight because he identifes as such? Do you think orientation is only based on self-identification?

 

Sure, if the straight man, like Nub's friend, specified that he was able to experience sexual attraction/pleasure, but not any romantic attraction or meaning to it and eventually concluded that he was in fact straight. There is not a very good vocabulary to describe sexuality, so maybe there's a better way to describe a situation like that, but they get to decide that for themselves.  Real people's experiences of their own sexuality can be messy and complicated and as long as they're not flinging poo on other people, they're allowed to experience that complication without it being shot down as "just this" or "just that", imo. Which is what it sounds like Nub's friend was saying.

I think Dorian enjoys the flirt by a female Inquisitor. But ofc nobody says things like "oh i'm sure he'd be with women too if he found the right woman" or something like that he could hook up with the female quizzy bc apparently has no problem if flirted by female inquisitor (correct me if im wrong pls)

I get it, media is notorious for making lesbians "falling for men" or "once went with men" or "sill hooks up with man but calls herself a lesbian". But absolutely nothing indicates Sera went with a dude. She'd clearly mention it if she went with one once at least.

But I think the comparison with Dorian is that it's made explicit in his story that he's gay, and his flirtatious comments are addressed. (And those comments and that part of his character has actually been torn apart by people, especially after Gaider described why he chose to do that lmao), and leave no real room for ambiguity. So it isn't "Oh, I read this comment as her being bi and never encountered anything that contradicted that" it's "Well I know they say he's gay but he and my female Quizzie just clicked so much!!!" or whatever.
