Pretty much. Or abuse the tome duplication glitch like mad to give yourself god stats.

Used the Lothering exploit in my last playthrough though. I embarrasedly admit it. But hey, Allison had a good reason to rename the village "Trapthering" by the time I was done...!
If you're just going for the Grim Reaper achievement, you can do it on Hard and you will still get the achievement. That's what I did anyway, and it was STILL a horrible fight.
I maintain that is the hardest achievement in DA:O. By far.
It's a tough fight, to be sure, but I find keeping the blasted ogre alive in Darkspawn Chronicles more difficult. Darn thing keeps vanishing on me.
And then, at the end, they show you that a couple dozen of the bosh'tets actually made it out. Ouch.
They need to get the Virmire treatment.

Well, you can duplicate anything as long as you have at least two of the items. My favorite tome to exploit is the one that raises stats only. It can be used by all companions. My current party all have stats upward of 200 in every category... It was a research project!

Don't be embrassed. It's not like you're using an expolit to give yourself more levels than you could get in a proper playthrough. And the enemies level scale, so it's not like you're making it easier on yourself.

I advanced about five levels and made about three hundred Sovereigns. Also, without it, my character would never stand a chance of being lvl25 at the moment she slew the Archdemon.

We know the conclusion to the story, somehow the secrets of the Thaig traveled from the deep roads to Kirkwall, where they were brought to life by an insane blood mage, and then later used by another insane blood mage.
Hopefully the story ends there...but it won't, i know Bioware too well.

IIRC, you have to flip the levers at the gate there in order to release it and have it continue following you.
