That's pretty much what I did. I did three completionist playthroughs of ME1. One romancing Liara so I can carry that on, one romancing Ashley and one romancing nobody. (I don't like the idea of "cheating", even in a game.)

The reason I skipped so much in ME1 is because the controls are so annoying. I guess I should though, because that way I'll get the choices I like.

The controls are just so clumsy for me and I don't want to deal with it again.

Yeah, I'll second Genesis. You won't get some of the minor tweaks, but good enough.
