Some more info on the HoF would be great but seeing how awkward some of Hawke's dialogue was in this game erm I rather not have my Warden appear at all.

the calling! If alive and romanced they mention a quest of curing the call to live a happly ever after

If they weren't brave / foolhardy enough to put the The Warden in Inq then I don't see how that could have changed now.

"Blood mages are all bad news!" said blood mage Hawke who romanced Merrill, another blood mage. Yeah, let's stick with a Warden who does not appear or talk at all in game.

everyone wants happiness for the warden, but that was the character with the greatest potential to be an evil jackass.

 

I could live with mine going out fighting. It's not for everyone though, and I'd be pretty annoyed if it was handled as nonsensically as Hawke fighting the Nightmare.
