If the first impressions on Reddit are any indication you can sum up the DLC as fallows: "Jaws of Haakon is Overpriced and basically just another Hinterlands-esque Area that's just filled with merchants, enemies and fetch quests."
Seems like every valid criticism of the core games gameplay is alive and well in the dlc and what little new content their is, is not worth the asking price.
I like the core game but it also sounds like this isn't a first day necessity either. I'll push back on getting it till I feel like it. I would have preferred something that added to the main game in a substantial way either in filling out more of the characters or telling something of post-game events. This does sound like overpriced content that could have been added to the game in November of last year.

wouldnt that take the fun away from people who'd enjoy it regardless
One of the main reasons that the gaming industry is falling off a cliff when it comes to how they threat their customers is the fact that so many gamers are ignoring all of the negative crap that's going on and continuing to give problem developers and publishers their hand earned money. We are at the point where games are being released in a broken state "because they can be patched later" and developers/publishers are still making money hand over fist. Buy continuing to support developers and publishers that are pulling this stuff you are in fact signing off on their business practices. I know new dlc for a game you like is tempting, but do we really want things to continue down the path they are? I mean if people don't start taking a stance now a release as bad as AC:U is going to look tame compared to what we see in the coming years or months.

Send the snow to Eastern Colorado. Once again half of the entire state is under a red flag wild fire warning and its not even spring yet.

I think they got lazy. In the past when you released on discs, and most people installed from disc, you got games that were in better shape. Platforms like Steam and Origin or things like "early access" encourage lazyness so you get this "pay $65 for what is in effect our beta version."
I don't play AAA titles generally so I rarely get burned by this. I have no interest in most of the bigger titles that come out where this is common. But it's spreading into indie territory too. Paradox have started releasing tons of dlc that could have been in a main game when it launched and so you can see this practice spreading. I think dlc should add to the game and not be something that clearly could have been there from the beginning. This present dlc smells of something that they could have included in the game the day of release but they left out to sell back to us later.

That's why it was called BioWare Social Network.
Your explanation holds no water.
They make me miss the old times , where you have a Game and then an Expansion . Since these DLC showed up..it become short side quest...short side quest + weapons , short side quest + companion....
It stink.. ![]()
So... the new DLC is overpriced and underwhelming?
