Question, would you want to hear anything about it in spoilers? I don't want to upset anyone.
Sure Dani I would be curious to hear your impressions since you have it.
I'd have bought it today if I read: "Whoah it tells us what happened to Solas!" or "It told us so much more about this character!" or "Gee I got an extra romance scene with my LI."
Instead it seems we're paying to just unlock a new map area. Ok. Sure. But I can wait to get that. I'll get it but it ain't a day one buy. More like when I have time.

Maybe it got cut cause it didnt work at first but got fixed and then released. Wont deny the price issue
$15 is high for the amount of content I've heard described. It reminds me of the 'black dye' DLC from Fable 3 for $2. For one item!
*tinfoil hat on* Do you think they inflated the price of the DLC to compensate for people getting a refund? *tinfoil hat off*

Maybe with the timed exclusive they lower the price after the review

its better than warring amongst ourselvesWhat I find truly depressing is this growing culture among players that the developers are the enemy.

If anything developers, publishers and gamers all share equal parts of the blame. You really can't blame one side without ignoring the others.

I am sure if you managed to get a developer to comment on it they'd say something like:
"It's a vast new area/map that is as big as other areas of the game. A lot of time goes into creating each area of the game which is not something I am sure most fans appreciate. You'll have to take my word for it. We don't feel it's over the market price for the content, replayable content I might add, that it offers the players."
He or she would have something of a point there (although I still would not see this as a day one necessity). Now can I get hired? ![]()

And you can't treat any one of those groups like they're a single entity. When the world becomes as simple as gamers are stupid, developers are lazy and publishers are evil, no one is going to find a solution to anything.
*sigh*

You're right to be disappointed, and right to speak out. I'm disappointed as well.
But so much of the discourse at this stage is people second guessing how developers should make games, when they know nothing about it. People accusing developers of withholding content when they have no proof.
It becomes this rolling storm. We aren't talking about BioWare releasing a lackluster DLC anymore we're talking about how the whole industry is in jeopardy because lazy devs are holding out on us and digital distribution is ruining publisher investment in good support.
And in that we've lost specific instances of what's good and bad, analysis and feedback has been replaced simple negativity.

The solution is for people to demand more from developers, publishers and let their money do the talking. As a paying customer you have every right to demand better service and product from a company. Also, a company is not going to make any positive changes tell the negative changes they have made effect their bottom line. That simply how business works. A company like Comcast or Wal-Mart is not going to change their negative business practices if they are continuing to turn a major profit with them in place. Same with major publishers and developers.
There is already a partial solution on the developer and publisher side of things a well. id software and many other develops have a "When it's done" policy when it comes to release dates. They don't even bother putting out a release date on a game tell they have had enough time to fully developed the game and made sure it's free of any major issues. Many of these developers refuse to partner with a publisher who is not willing to accept this kind of development practice.

Sometimes it's not that simple and only partner with publishers because they have the money
That's why only some developers do the "when it's done" route

Then you take a lower paying contract with a publisher who is willing to accept the when its done apprach and work to make up the difference in crowed funding. Their are always ways to make something work. You just have to be willing to find them and put some extra work in if need be.

Sure. Just like developpers don't appreciate the time and effort that went into earning the money I bought the game with. When you make a product, hype it up and ultimately can't deliver on your promises, don't whine when people complain. You brought it on yourself.
