Gotta admit, this kinda makes me want to consider going female Qunari as my first character instead of the human I planned on.

It's unfortunately a concept rooted (and in some cases even embraced) in culture, so it's not easily influenced by the mere passing of time. Millions of people living today grew up learning that men are the 'leaders' in a relationship, making the idea of a lesbian relationship seem highly unusual to them since they've convinced themselves that the 'man' factor has to be present in order for it to be a valid relationship.
That said, I do expect things to change within a few generations from now, but until then, I expect these frames of mind to continue to dominate society on a global level.
