Argh. I feel like I have no idea how to play this ending in the sense of game mechanics. Seriously, I feel like a toddler randomly pressing buttons!

Just comply with the kid if you want to get to the colour choices - top right choices probably. And follow the right hand pathway if you want the good ending.

Seriously though the EC is a bit of a mess. Before that the choice was pretty clear cut and making the choice with walking rather than the wheel worked quite well in context. The EC basically just pasted in a handful of fan suggestions rather than fix the ending being stupid, in doing so it mostly made it more stupid.

I don't actually know. Whatever is included in the trilogy pack, Origin doesn't tell me if it's extended or not...

The EC is free content and I think it auto installs. If you click on the information button for ME3 in Origin it should list whether it is installed or not. The easy way to tell though is if:

Spoiler

But if you didn't get the three colour choices I'm pretty sure you're in the EC.

Yeah, I've got the EC, I just had to scroll through the list of content that I don't have to find that it was installed. Erg.

Okay, that makes more sense now. I thought it was like all the other choices in the game, and if I picked the renegade choice then the appropriate renegade action would follow.

See I thought that was because of the choices offered and I was trying to figure out the big deal; they seemed pretty standard ending choices to me, if a little macabre.

So the new James Bond movie is currently filming in Mexico City. They have six blocks of the historic centre of town plus the Zocalo (massive main square where the Cathedral is) fenced off and under their control. God knows how much that costs... I didn't see Daniel Craig or anything but it's clear that there will be a scene involving a Day of the Dead parade...

Yeah, so that's part of why I really don't like Paragon/Renegade. The ME dialogue wheel isn't normally aligned by morality, but whether you explore or advance dialogue and whether the tone is positive or negative. Sometimes that aligns with the morality system, and sometimes they break it to make it fit the alignment system. Anyway, there are plenty of times like that one where the choice either isn't paragon / renegade based or shouldn't be.

Not that paragon / renegade was ever consistent to begin with.

I had a long answer to you, then my internet went nuts and refused to send the ones and zeroes to BSN -.-
Let me do this quick then:

Solas says he saw "a weary general saving whoever he could from pointless slaughter" at Ostagar - could this be Loghain? I believe he did what he thought best for Ferelden.

Also, if he's the Warden contact, and you save Threnn in Haven, she mentions he remembered her. Where she served, what her name was. And I think she also says he casually spoke with her. He had to be a good commander once upon a time. One of the best, perhaps.

Her loyalty to him is inspiring - and she's equally loyal to the Inquisition. Such loyalty also doesn't come cheap. He had to deserve it.

The man's very grey, but he has his white moments. I disapprove of his actions in The Stolen Throne, in regards to Katriel, and I disapprove of what he did at Ostagar. But he's not an entirely black character.
Sadly, he's proven that his actions weren't the best nearly a year later.

i honestly don't care what Solas saw, keeping it real. i played the game. every time i think about Loghain i see that sneer after he tells Cauthrien to sound the retreat. i have no respect for that man and he is killed in each and every playthrough of Origins I have played sans two(trying to see other outcomes). on top of that, dude drips with misogny to a point that there literally is no redeeming quality about him to me. that's really not up for debate for me soooo Threnn will always get the same response from every Quiz.

I "refused" all three - expressed my doubt about the fact they could work. Then I could choose all three endings (Destroy, Control, Synthesis)

I didn't actually refuse. That's essentially a game over.

I only agree if the right path is the red one. THen... yeah. That's the only proper ending!

Aaand, I'm deploying smoke.

I agree with most of this. Loghain probably isn't "evil" per se, and the novels do cast a slightly clearer picture of him. That said, his betrayal couldn't go unpunished or ignored. He was so obsessed with Orlesians that he almost ruined the country during the Blight. His little bit to Anora gave my heartstrings a slight tug, but the Warden always executed him. I did consider letting him live once, but I forgot to harden Alistair and wanted him to marry Anora and was a bit confused about whether he'd end up a wandering drunk or not, so I went ahead and executed him.

Asking myself a question now, though... Is my Warden killing Loghain but my Hawke sparing Anders hypocritical...? I headcanon that the Warden would have, too. Neither condone his actions, but understand the reasons why. Explanation/reason =/= excuse. But should one apply that logic to Loghain...? Hrm.

It's always sad to see poor and homeless people anywhere, and Mexico has more than its share, but seeing this guy loving the music was a lovely moment.

Thanks! I took several of him dancing and this one stood out for the expressions of the guitarist/bass player. It really captured the joy of the moment. We gave some money both to the homeless guy and the band, who were really good, playing surf rock versions of 60s hits.

I knew it!

Because I was going to comment on the guitarist. Looks like he has one of the older Italian styled electrics that used to be popular in 60's/70s, especially with surf (they were also employed for those spaghetti westerns heh).

Awesome. I love that stuff. I have a Fender Jazzmaster myself, but haven't played it in awhile. It was pretty famous for it too (despite being originally for jazz).

The problem is how do you conscript someone who at a later point will have regained his full power? Let's be honest, there's a reason he and the others were worshipped as gods. They were mages possessing God like powers.

Cory thought he was rather godlike and he went down without much of a fight. :)

Cory's more interesting as a concept or something to bounce off your roleplaying with (especially how you differ from or resemble his Faith issues). Gameplay, not much to talk about.
