I can see Bioware doing 3 romances ( 1 straight, 1 gay, 1 bi)

I'd argue it's Bioware trying to please every is what leading them to having somewhat shallow content

I think we're at a point now where they're big enough to do enough LI content writing for more than 3 characters and 3 characters won't be enough when we're talking about needing to include a lesbian character and a gay male character. I think you're going to have to have at least two of each next time around the writing is on them really. It's up to them to pull it off and I think they are capable of it. Not sure I'll buy the argument that they were spread too thin if it's made next time.

I loved all the companions in this game. I'd be really heartbroken to lose any of them. That said, more content is always good... and think Vivienne is one of those characters who could do with more fleshing out.

You'll probably not see some of them again, sadly. That's how it is or seems to be. I could stand more Viv if only because her personality grated on me so terribly that I cannot believe this is how she just is but then again that may be my problem and not hers!

I would hope we're at a point were they could offer more than that and I am willing to wait just a bit more to give them time to do it. The old formula just doesn't feel like enough anymore and I would think I am not alone in feeling that way?

I don't know enough about financing and marketing in the entertainment business. But in the end it all comes down to money. Selling 2 million copies of a game every 3 years is simply better than selling 2 million copies of the game every 4 or 5 years. Also, companies need constant earnings to pay their bills, so they need money rolling in frequently. I do not know how the sales are distributed etc. etc. so this is just a wild guess.

But they also cannot make the game too expensive because they the mainstream players won't buy them anymore, and fans alone usually don't account for huge sales. Quick entertainment usually sells better (just look at the alpha male COD). I fear, though I might be mistaken, that it is just not so easy as us fans saying "we are willing to wait and would pay a bit more too".

@veeia

Thank you for the tip, I will try this!

I still think 2/2/2 the best option, trying to give everyone 3 is pushing it too far. I feel the real problem lies with the fact that it's optional content and those get less word budget that the main content

I just meant, if we're debating if Inquisition has too many companions, my argument would be no because they are all awesome. I have issues with Vivienne, but I think her character could at least have some fleshing out so she's more understandable.

I loved the cookies on the roof scene with Sera. That really opened up her character to me in ways I hadn't seen before. Vivienne needs a cookies on the roof scene so I can understand why she ticks the way she does. I still might not like her, but at least I'd get her.

I think waiting 5 years is too long. But 3 to 3 1/2 is fine and given the money this has made if it requires more writers to do the content I think they are certainly at a place where that should not be an issue.

Hmm...not sold that 2/2/2 works anymore given what I've seen in the response to Sera or Cass being the sole offerings they were in their category. I still tend to believe we're at a point where they can offer more content in terms of characters but we can run around in circles on this and in the end it's just an opinion. :)

That's mainly because they don't appeal to those people's personal preference, which is something Bioware shouldn't concern themselves with as much as they do

Bioware should just make the characters the way they want whether they click with the player or not

Yeah. Viv seemed like a proper, impossible to like b*tch to me.

I can't believe that's the only thing she can do. Hell, I DO NOT WANT TO believe that. There had to be a nice person before Madame de Fer was born - the original Vivienne, unaffected by the Great Game.

If they give us 5645645 romances for straight males and 1 romance for gay/lesbians in next ME, then i'll get very annoyed. It's one thing to do anything you want, and another thing to be unfair and mass effect in general was very unfair in terms of romance (and with female Shepard in general)

I'll never forget all of this unfair sh!t. DAI did it better on that department and ME should take some lessons from them in terms of romance content.

Same here Serza. Same here. You see the mask slip a bit when you do her personal quest so that you can see she can care for someone beyond herself but again...just...not...enough.

I agree with this. Am I going to bemoan the fact that I can't romance certain people because I'm a gender they aren't attracted to? Sure, a little. But that's life. It happens.

Yeah. I just discarded the moment, to be honest.

Yeah, she cares about SOMEONE. She's not bad to everyone.

Kinda doesn't show much, though.

Viv is not an uncaring person and that comes across to me in many places not just her terribly executed personal quest, shrug.

Are you saying they did concern themselves too much in this game. I mean from what I see they did what they wanted to do.

I was more talking in general than DAI itself

Though adding multiple races was the result of trying to please fans

I keep seeing peoplesay that, is there some source for this? Or just assumption? Because it seems to me they wanted to and were happy to add more races, not some kind of last ditch fan service

And what ever the reason I have to say I am personally fine with that. :)

I think it was in one of their gameinformer videos

I think the extra races could have used more support, but I get the impression (and not from you Keith, actually, which is why I asked) that some people believed Bioware felt forced to do it and didn't want to, which I think is not true. Or if it is true, that's on them, which is a different discussion, if it is true.

Edit: I'll look up the gameinformer videos then later, thanks!
