You know what I'd love? Merrill/Sera banter.
Let us not forget that Merrill is now nearing the age of thirty (simply, in 9:30 Dragon, during DA:O's Dalish Elf Origin, she has Vallaslin, indicating that she's an adult, and as I believe, Vallaslin is usually applied around the 18th year of age; then, Inquisition happens some 11, 12 years later... She may very well be thirty already)
This would mean that she's maybe... changed a bit? As in, not so naive anymore. Or maybe she's exactly the same as in 9:37 Dragon. Who knows...?
I know one thing. I would really love Merrill to return in a DLC. Maybe, if the implied Darkspawn DLC deals with Hawke (or whoever went to Weisshaupt during Here Lies the Abyss) together with them, if romanced.

I think it would have been great if Hawke brought their love interest to skyhold with them. They could have helped out around skyhold and spent some time with Varric.
You have no idea how sad I was when Hawke told my Inquisitor that she and Isabela never believed in being tied down. Although her next words gave this relationship a small chance. Dammit, I still hope BioWare won't destroy it further.

I hate that too. Thankfully, I never really romaqnced her, but still...
See: Solas and Sera banter.
Not quite. Merrill lacks Solas' condescending streak; she's just nice to everyone.

Blood magic. Mage. Elf. I don't see it working even if Merrill comes bearing cookies. ![]()

That's why it would be interesting. I mean, Merrill's dealt with the likes of Fenris before; I'm sure she could handle Sera.

@Ashii, oh yes that annoyed me.... it was so OOC, if you see what Izzy has said in DA2.
Exactly. Although I believe that Isabela won't just leave Hawke and vice versa. But whatever happens: I still have my headcanon. It fixes everything ![]()

Well.... Merrill is kind. Sera could totally tolerate her as long as she doesn't annoy her with dalish stuff, i believe. Solas comes off as "high and mighty" and very patronizing to Sera and that annoys her.
And we all know that Sera likes cute pies. ![]()

Ok well now you've got me sufficiently interested in seeing some interaction in the banter department between them.

You know what I'd love? Merrill/Sera banter.
Sera: I hear they threw out of your clan.
Merrill: It's true. They mean well, but they just don't understand.
Sera: I bet. Was it because you didn't say, "by the dread wolf!" enough. You say that, like, all the time. Figured you were compensating or something.
Merrill: No. It was because...
Sera: Wait. I got it. They bumped you out because you got sweet on the Champion, amight? Figures the Dalish get all up in a snit because someone doesn't want to help rebuild the empire.
Sera: Tell you what. Me and the Red Jennies can prank them for you, free of charge. Hmm. Halla droppings smell real bad, amiright. (chuckles) This going to be fun.
Merrill: I'm a blood mage.
Sera: ...
Sera: Arrows! Arrows! Arrows!
Sera: Cassandra! Merrill's a blood mage! Get her!
Merrill: Wait. Stop. I won't...
Cassandra: Hiyah!
Sera: Eww! She's all meaty now.

I see Sera and Isabela having a grand old time in the party together, but I imagine Sera would have quite a few problems with Merrill, being an elfy bloodmage. Though, I think she would not be as hard on her as Fenris is, unless Merrill talks about how Sera should be more like whatever like Solas does, which I don't really see happening.

Well, in my world of DA2, I discouraged Merrill from doing much with blood magic, and even modded in the healer tree for her and didn't let her have any BM skills. Win!
Merrill was never one to talk openly about BM in DA2 either, from what I remember.

Sera would get along with Merrill 100000x better than Solas IMO. Merrill is cute and friendly and accepting and it's not fun to hurt her feelings. I mean I don't think they'd be insta besties, but maybe more like Dorian-Sera in that a friendship grows and they have fun. Solas is a combination of a bunch of things Sera hates, it's not *just* that he's an elf mage.
I think it might be complicated. Sera might really warm to Merrill's sweetness, but I wonder if she would be very wary of Merrill's tendency towards dark magic. I feel like it would be one of those relationships that struggles towards common ground, and hits rocks now and then.
Also, even though Merrill is kind, she does also have a little of the Dalish sense of superiority towards city elves (as indicated most particularly in her banter with Fenris "We're not much like Elves in the cities."). It's sort of a mild and very innocent bigotry, which might make Sera want to tell her off.
...and then proceed to feel badly when Merrill gives her those big sad eyes. ![]()

You'd probably have to kill Vivienne, Cullen and Iron Bull as well. That's a whole lot of killing for one little blood mage who apparently stops being a blood mage if they romance Hawke. Then again, maybe Sera might not freak out in certain events occurred.
Merrill: I'm a blood mage.
Sera: Arrows! Arrows! Arrows!
Merrill: Wait, I can make Vivienne cluck like a baby griffon with my blood magic.
Sera: Seriously?
Merrill: Yes.
Sera: If you make her do that and make her jump off the battlements at Skyhold then you won't get an arrow to the face. I promise.
Merrill: Isn't that last part dangerous though?
Sera: Pfft. No. Inky does it all the time whenever she wants talk to Solas real quick after chatting Leliana up.
Sera: Totally safe. Probably.
