Hello! *exaggerated wave*
And yes, it currently is. Darker than my mind on Wednesday, and that is SAYING SOMETHING.
My mind can be pure friggin' black. And I'm not talking dirty. I'm talking black.
About time we poured some white in, don't you think...?
Yes, this is how I imagine it. Sera wanting to and trying to hate her very much and it not being easy because Merrill is so mellow and sweet. But it definitely wouldn't be a smooth sailing relationship because of the blood arc and the Dalish aspects. It would be very interesting though. Sometimes I'm sad that Merrill wasn't the contuining character in DA:I because Varric's main roles seemed to be two things Merrill could do: justifying Hawke and having a relationship with Cole, as well as a connection to red lyrium that I don't think was executed well. But Merrill could have provided that Dalish POV that was lacking and her familiarity with eluvians would be a boon, as well as fleshing out her storyline there, which was rushed and unsatisfying in da2. I understand why she wasn't, since Varric is a constant in all people's DA2 games, but I still think she would have added more. And I'm not even a huge fan of Merrill, I like her, but not on the level of other da2 companions like Isabela or Fenris. I would also be sad about the lack of a dwarf companion. So it's not like a WHY DIDNT THEY, just some errant thoughts.I think it might be complicated. Sera might really warm to Merrill's sweetness, but I wonder if she would be very wary of Merrill's tendency towards dark magic. I feel like it would be one of those relationships that struggles towards common ground, and hits rocks now and then.
Also, even though Merrill is kind, she does also have a little of the Dalish sense of superiority towards city elves (as indicated most particularly in her banter with Fenris "We're not much like Elves in the cities."). It's sort of a mild and very innocent bigotry, which might make Sera want to tell her off.
...and then proceed to feel badly when Merrill gives her those big sad eyes.
Vee, I don't suppose you have some fan art with both Merrill and Sera, do you...?
No.
I have seen some on tumblr but that was ages ago. I'll keep my eye open for it though!
Blast it! Google comes up blank, and I'm not on Tumblr.
A while back I asked for suggestions for best/worst Sera ship and someone came up with Merril. I thought that idea was rad.
Being a horrible person I'm not confident I remember Someone's name.

Oh, you're back. *quickly deletes 3000 words of dark, broody Sera poetry*

does it have Ws and s**t
Yes, dark ones.
Woe. Wound. Wind-up. Why can't she accept I'm Dalish. Etcetera.
There doesn't seem to be much art with Sera and Merrill on tumblr. Here's one...

I think that a Sera and Merrill would be very interesting together. I think Sera would obviously start off being very distrustful of Merrill, but in the end she'd probably think she was OK. She does seem in general to end up accepting people if they treat others well, and Merrill is pretty much never mean to anyone, as far as I can recall. I'm not sure what Merrill would think of Sera. She'd probably have a tough time processing the idea that such an elf could exist, and would ask plenty of naive questions which might initially be annoying to our Jenny, but again I think that with time they'd probably end up getting along OK, as Merrill would accept Sera as she is.
Also Merrill would be so easy to prank...
Yeah. Makes me wonder if Sera would eventually feel bad for pranking Merrill, if it'd be so easy... And Merrill so cute.
You'd probably have to kill Vivienne, Cullen and Iron Bull as well. That's a whole lot of killing for one little blood mage who apparently stops being a blood mage if they romance Hawke. Then again, maybe Sera might not freak out in certain events occurred.
Truth be told, if none of them killed Cole, I doubt any of them would try for Merrill. But if they did, then yes, I would kill them all.

I don't think she'd have that hard a time processing Sera's existence. Fenris is pretty much just as unelfy.

Yes this exactly. Yes Merrill is more friendly than Solas and she has puppy eyes and she might appear less threatening to Sera until...blood magic. Sera really doesn't like magic. It freaks her out. That's a big hurdle a friendship with Merrill would have to get past. Could it be done? Possibly but we can't act like Sera would just be cool with Merrill's magical habits. She would not be.

We do know that Sera can suspend the magic thing for people she likes. She can even handle a necromancer Inquisitor. The whole "I know you, so you're not scary" thing, and Merrill is one of the least scary people out there.

Well he's a runaway Tevinter slave with magic glowing tattoos and superhuman strength. He pretty much screams "different" just by looking at him. You can't really say that about Sera...

In time. In time. But let's not act like that hurdle would not be there and it might lead to some real rocky moments at first.

That's why I said that I think Sera would have problems initially, but I do reckon that they'd end up getting on OK...

That's the sort of thing that makes Fenris' banter seem funnier harsher.
Avert your eyes, witch!
Like, dude is immune to Merrill's demeanor lol.

Unless you're from her clan, but then they didn't seem to be the sharpest bunch of elves.

I don't know, her taste in pants is kind of special.

I can see "OK" and a "friendship" but I don't buy Merrill would be Sera's type for a romance. But hey people can ship what they want and if it's well done I might even enjoy it. ![]()

Are we talking about romance? I thought we were talking about banter...

I thought I saw someone here mention romance? If wrong then I is wrong. ![]()
Lmao, we were talking about banter/friendship...... then it escalated. ![]()
But yea, can't see them as lovers. The only girl i can see Sera with (if no quizzy around) is Dagna.
