To me she is the most annoying character in the game. I truely don't like that character; she infantile and doesn"t fit the inquisition. Her comments and dialoge always irritate me and I don't like her looks.
But that's me.
Luckily for you, you can take Varric or Cole, or play as a tempest rogue yourself if you want all her abilities. Then you don't even have to recruit her!
I'll just get on with enjoying one of my favourite BioWare characters.

Sera is obviously one of the dev team's favorite characters. Do you think this influences people's perception of her, e.g. fuelling their animosity? Like, when I see some people's frequent displays of the same ignorance and arrogance regarding Sera, I wonder why they don't simply ignore her, instead of repeating that and why they ignore her. I don't invest so much time in characters I don't like, I just disregard them and am done with it. It's not debating anyway, it's just case-hardening inflexible opinions on both sides. And I feel that those arguments (and even points of view) are especially rough when about Sera. There must be a reason. If she was not a dev favorite, would we observe the same effect?
(Funny though how people stubbornly complain about Sera's stubbornness.)

Well, Liara is considered one of the dev's favorite and she's hated a lot as well. Shrugs.

Which is sort of why I am starting to think it might be a good idea if the writers tune the fandom out a bit and stick to their own vision (or gut instincts).
To be fair I think that Liara and Sera tend to be disliked for very different reasons (although I adore both of them.) They certainly are pretty far apart personality-wise...

Not to mention their coloring. Seriously though, I think a lot of the outrage against Sera comes from the idea that the Devs 'wasted' resources on her when they could have made a 'better' companion. Or something like that.

Eh, a lot of writers consider certain characters their favorites.. Laidlaw for example named some in interviews and this didn't annoy the fandom.
I personally like hearing devs liking my fav character.

I don't see how dev favouritism would be enough of a tangible thing for most people to fuel their hate.
I'm inclined to think the intensity of hate is at least somewhat influenced by her being a woman, but it's difficult to be objective about. Solas and Blackwall do some pretty jerky things and get a lot of hate for it, but I don't see a constant train of hate threads like Sera's personality and Cassandra's face get.

We used to have a relative send us this every year at Christmas. It just sort of sat there, alone and unpopular, until someone would take pity on it and toss the tin into one of the garbage cans outside.

From the look of the cookie she offers you I presumed it was Choccy chip. "Sera, dear, a raisin cookie just screams ambivalence about me love."
