I don't know... that looks like one of the cushions from Sera's den at the Inn. Don't they usually go up to the Inquisitor's room for more intimate stuff?

I choose to interpret the "love" scene as "Sera nailed Inky to the floor"

That Inquisitor has some lovely hair.

Player interpretation? I don't think it's a rule. On the other hand there is an entire tavern full of Inquisition soldiers on the other side of Sera's wall, which could be awkward.

There's always room to imagine all sorts of stuff going on of course. It's not as though we see every moment of their lives in-game.

I sometimes wish that I could get some of the awesome DA cosplayers to visit me here in York. There are so many medieval buildings here that I'm sure I could find them some cool locations for their photo shoots that lived up to the effort they put into the costumes, instead of standing them in front of a breeze-block wall...

I seem to remember you had much the same problem with Liara, and maybe a couple others back in the day. I also remember your being involved in quite a few not-so-tame arguments over those subjects. While I'm not saying that you don't have a right to want the characters you want, I would assume that after all these years you would have figured out that BioWare is not going to make characters tailor made for you, or me, or anyone else. I believe it would benefit you if you just accepted that characters are going to be shallow, since they are game characters in games that span a short timeline.
Honestly, the kind of development you are looking for generally only happens over many, many stories or episodes. Hell, look at Shepard, even after 3 entire games, she's still pretty shallow and almost completely 2 dimensional. Just enjoy these games for what they are, small diversions from real life, I don't think you are going to get the complex life/relationship simulation you are looking for in any game you play in the next 20 years.
Oddly, none of this was a problem in DA2.

Maybe not to the extent it seems to be now. In DAII there was almost 10 years of time passage through the game, and you had a smaller group of companions that needed growth over that time span. It's much easier for a writer to show character growth when you are fast forwarding a couple years every 8-12 hours of game play. In Origins and Inq we literally spend the entirety of the games in a span of months. There's literally not enough time passage for any exposition.
Consider yourself lucky that you got close to what you are looking for in one of the BioWare games over the last 10 years, I doubt you will get that again.

Wasn't the 10 year time skips criticized also?

I'll settle for the one lesbian companion not being an obvious and deliberate controversy magnet whom you can kick out of the party at any time.

Growth comes from experiences though, not the passage of time. Merril didn't after being in Kirkwall for seven years learn that listening to advice from Demons about Elven Glory was a bad idea she realised it after her entire clan was (nearly) killed in part because of her actions*. That DA2 told that story over seven years just meant the influential parts of Merril's life were spread out. DA2 takes place over a long time, but it focuses on key events in that time.
A lot can happen in a few months, particularly when those few months are spent saving the world.
Beyond that I think Xil is mostly just asking for Sera to be a little more considerate of others? That's not a huge thing, it's Han Solo level character development - minus the flying out of the sun pew pew "YAHOO!" bit. Not that I'm saying Sera should change like that, just that I don't think it's actually a big ask.
*Or the Keeper's but that's another argument.

It was, but it did give the writers the time span needed to show some character growth.

Ok, now I'm confused. Sera is the only lesbian companion in the whole series to date, and she's certainly a deliberate controversy magnet.

But gaining life experiences does take time, time that Origins and Inq does not give for character development on the scale of Xilli's expectations. DA2 allowed that time, the time to pile a lot of experiences across a long period of time.Growth comes from experiences though, not the passage of time. If Xilli or anyone else is asking a game character to change and be more considerate, she and anyone else asking are only asking to be disappointed. BioWare is not going to go back and change Sera, ever. Asking for that kind of change is a folly.

It takes time, but there isn't a linear relation between time and experience, there's nothing stopping experiences hitting you rapidly, or a big experience arriving at any point. Inquisition and Origins' stories depict a few months under war analogous conditions, that alone should be a crash course on life experience. DA2 provided a lot of time for its experiences, which allowed room for playing Indiana Jones, fighting Qunari and a mage rebellion to not step on each others toes, but the personal experiences in those things could have gone into one story arc.
Sera is potentially during the few months of Inquisition: fighting a horde of demons threatening Thedas, joining a disciplined organisation, falling in love, meeting new people, traveling further than she ever has before and seeing a bucket load of atrocities. That's a lot of experience to kick start change, and I'd say it does to a point as she stays with the Inquisition post game.
If Xilli or anyone else is asking a game character to change and be more considerate, she and anyone else asking are only asking to be disappointed. BioWare is not going to go back and change Sera, ever. Asking for that kind of change is a folly.
I'm not sure why this is an issue. People discuss the game regardless of whether it will change, maybe BioWare will pick up stuff and learn from it or maybe they won't, but people still get to share what they thought and maybe enjoy that. I'm disappointed by the main plot but I still (perhaps weirdly) like talking about it, even if I don't think what I say can contribute to a better future plot.
