Yeah. It's where this screenshot comes from, although a lot of people take one of the other options "love is the best" I think, because then she calls you "Honey Tongue" which sticks as your new nickname.
Now i really must choose the correct options ![]()

So, question: would anyone here be comfortable engaging me in a bit of RP where the other one plays as Sera, while I play as my own elf Inquisitor, in an experiment to see how the dialogue between them might work if I was allowed to say anything I wanted? I would do this all myself, but I fear that I might not be objective.
I would Xil but I would be terrible at it, as I would make Sera say what I would want to hear, not what she would say.
I guess I've become too much of an Elf, Sorry.
Ah, shame. I have the same fear, more or less.

Hah, I'm intrigued, though I'm unsure as to how well I could convincingly channel Sera's manner of speech XD

Edit: I think Crim would be proud of the last bit. My conversion to the SPEW, seems complete. Brings back fond memories.
I'm not sure how well I could do it either because I'm well aware of what you'd want to hear, and I think that would colour my judgement, because, well, I don't like to be an ass, even when RPing.

I'm forgiving.

I'm not truly as upset about Sera's reaction so much as I am the inability of myself to respond adequately. This exists largely as a test of Sera's soul to see what I could reasonably headcanon and whether the romance could work for my character, so total authenticity would be necessary.
But the Maker isn't an accepting god; he's a gigantic *******. And Andraste existed in the physical world regardless of anyone's beliefs; Andraste can still be "for everyone." And again, this wasn't an issue at the beginning of the relationship and only became one now.
That depends on your interpretation. There are Chantry folk who are plenty accepting of elves. Though yes, there are racist douches as well. Heck even Sebastian speculates with Merrill that perhaps the Maker and the elven gods are two ways of looking at the same divine force.
I'm wondering if the thing about Sera afterwards was she was asking if the Inquisitor thought the elven gods were "rally really" as she seems to distinguish between something being "real" in an abstract sense and "really-real" as in literally hands-on true (it seems to be how she reconciles other contradictory concepts). And she interprets the Inquisitor's belief in the Creators as being literally true, no room for the Maker.
Though yes, I could wish for an option to say that maybe there were beings the elves called "Creators" who might have been... something. though not divine. Spirits, demons, or something else entirely. Even my agnostic qunari Inquisitor could have gone for that.
So I noticed that in my game I have this guy chilling out half-way up a cliff in Stone-Bear Hold.
He was there yesterday and I thought it was just a random glitch...

But he's back today in a slightly different position, just relaxing against the rock 2m in the air...

Has anyone else seen him? ![]()

But I don't believe in the Maker. That's another thing she knew already.
I don't remember him, but I'm not always very observant.
Sera's looking rather awesome in that armor, uncle.
Hehe thanks. I currently have everyone co-ordinating in grey-blue and white with silverite. The way Sera's and Dorian's armours work they have more white while Cass and Tressa have more of the grey-blue. My goodness I sound like some sort of fashionista, but I enjoy messing around with tinting! ![]()

Are you an elf or human mage? If the latter, why don't you have the Keeper Robe, if I may ask?
It's not as good stats-wise as the cross-race armour with arms and legs, and this one in particular is the tier four schematic from the DLC. Solas is currently equipped with it, though. Are you an elf or human mage? If the latter, why don't you have the Keeper Robe, if I may ask?

Also on an aesthetic level I'm not a fan of the barefoot thing...
Bah. I suppose I'm on Normal and don't have to worry as much about stats...

But it's belief in the Creators that makes you "elfy" in her mind. She believes in the Maker (though some of the Chantry teachings are "a bit off" for her) though whether or not you share that belief is less important to her. The elves or Arlathan were wiped out and/or enslaved. That to her is enough to make her feel the Creators were "lies" and trying to go back and be like them is foolishness. Sera is very much about the here and now.

That's a brutally social Darwinist point of view that's utterly incompatible with her character as it's portrayed everywhere else.
So I just got a banter scene between Sera and Vivienne about her relationship with the Inquisitor and how it hurts the Inquisition's standing. Sera's response was sounding great but a darn gurgut attacked us so I couldn't really hear the rest. Still responded with "that's sweet but kinda scary" option. Think it's hilarious that the group would be casually discussing my Quizzy's love life during battle.

The Maker accepted Brother Burkel and all of Burkel's dwarven followers, and he accepted Sera. If he only did that because of Andraste, it's still more than any of the elven gods ever did for her. And the irreconcilability of Andrastianism and the elven religion only became an issue now because before now, the Inquisitor hasn't done or said anything that would tell Sera her religious beliefs are nothing and that by extension, so is she, the way that declaring a belief in the elven religion would do.
The First is clearly the most common definition and a differently expressed form of the one that I was using. I was just explaining how I apply it to Dragon Age characters, and in fact was applying a slightly more inclusive definition if anything.
The second... Devout expresses devotion? That's pretty circular. And pious is synonym of devout, so expressing piety is the same as expressing devotion. That one is therefore self-referential and redundant, and I don't see how it applies to Sera's religious views as it just takes you back to the first definition.
The third, well... It seems to be about when you apply the word in a context outside of the religious (She was a devout socialist) so it's not really relevant to our discussions.
You might not want to use the second or third definitions, but they're equally valid and they apply to the Dragon Age character named Sera. You not liking them doesn't make them invalid, no matter what rhetorical games you try to play to make it so.
I thought it was disappointing that you couldn't respond to this, because it only seems natural that you'd want to chime in if someone was criticizing your personal life.
But whatevs I guess. I can just make sure she doesn't elevate too much politically. Take that, uppity sorceress.

but
I have declared a belief in the elven religion
many times by this point
I would have gone with "If you want to join us you could just ask. The answer's no, by the way."
