But I didn't ignore it. In fact I addressed that exact point in my reasoning on the post-Mythal scene.

That's why I believe she says that. I think she says it not because her belief in Andraste is devout, but because she thinks that if that card falls, then maybe the whole house of cards that makes her views about the Dalish comes crashing down too. Devout belief is not necessary for that line to make sense, especially given all the other times when she clearly shows that she has many doubts about her religious convictions.

Anyway, we're clearly seeing the same things and coming to different conclusions here, and since we can't ask Sera for verification, I suggest that we leave it here, because these arguments are becoming circular.

In regard to religion in Thedas, I honestly believe EVERYBODY has it wrong. There may be some element of truth when it comes to Andraste, the Maker, elven gods, etc. But the different groups of people have diversified it and made it their own.

In a way, I compare it to religion in the real world; most religious camps believe in roughly the same thing, which slight differences.

As for the Maker, I've read somewhere that we'll never find out if the Maker is actually real or not. Could be wrong, though.

Here is a rather interesting thread that was posted in the Scuttlebutt section, regarding the Dalish.

http://forum.bioware...-see-the-point/

Now going by your way of thinking, Xilizrha; shouldn't the Dalish clans have some "development" of their own?

Since there effectively aren't any in Inquisition, does it matter?

I'm not going to cut Sera any slack until she cuts me some. Which she refuses to do.

Oh I agree. I think they all contain scraps of truth distorted by time and politics, but no one has the full, correct picture.

We shall see what the writer thinks of his product in light of its reception. It should be interesting regardless of the outcome.

I hate to make this comparison, but I heard much the same thing about Liara all through the prime life of ME2. Look how that turned out. Liara is one of the most loved and hated characters of all BioWare games. Arguments raged over Liara for months without end, and I see Sera in a very similar light. The writers never changed who Liara was because of her haters, and her DLC was one of the best DLCs of any game during that era.

Liara did change rather a lot over the course of all three games, however.

You? Or your Dalish avatar? Getting really hard to tell which you are talking about.

The vague fusion of both that exists because my avatar in-game is effectively gagged from talking about any of this.

Right.. so that excuses it, then?

They may not have a lot to do with the story of Inquisition, but they still play an important role in Thedas. As does all.

You do realize you're not actually an elf, right?

You're role-playing as one in a video game...

Yes, I would like more Dalish story development and such.

Well hopefully the city elf gets some love. It's one of the best origins beside human noble for me.

Rape as plot device for an unraped character, with the one who actually was raped being shoved into the background. I don't really think it's worth any regard. It's okay for a female PC, but pretty damned bad for a male one.

Ignoring it was exactly what you were doing: You made a big deal about quoting lines that you felt you could argue indicated that she wasn't devout, while totally leaving out a line that expresses deep devotion.

The specifics don't really matter. I just mean the city elf in general. It's not likely that we'd get another Kendells sexual predator prologue.

Also, that's not even a Dalish. Or a City Elf, for that matter. Somebody doesn't have their Vallaslin, eh Xil?

Agreed. City elf was my favourite Origin story. Coming second to that was the casteless dwarf. But the city elf one is a winner, hands down.. I quite liked the idea of inspiring a bunch of hopeless slaves into standing up to the powers-that-be. The rape part angered me, but it was quickly turned to joy when I was able to kill the noble bastard.

I think Sera would have been proud.

This made me laugh harder than I should be.. if I should be laughing at all...

Impressive elf mages are difficult to find for DA, so I dipped into Warcraft.

My pleasure to entertain.

Lack of Vallaslin is INEXCUSABLE for a Dalish adult, such as yourself. Got exiled before they considered you an adult?

She just needs to conduct the ancient Elven ritual of Fotoshoppin on her avatar and it will be fine... ;)
