I usually end up going back to them.
Rogue is my favourite class in part because I'm a shameless kleptomaniac.
Don't mind me, I'll just install sentry guns in my room now...

I adore the greater mobility afforded to this class, along with the huge damage dealing. It makes my character seem like some sort of lethal scoundrel. Mages benefit a bit from Fade Step, but it's not the same. Like, when approaching a group in some decrepit great hall, I love being able to do a dive over a railing and join the fray, and jump back or go into stealth and stick an enemy in the back. Plus, it's the only one in this game, other than the Knight-Enchanter, that serves well as both a melee and ranged attacker which makes them extra versatile (less so because of the lack of on-the-fly weapon switching), though to be fair, this is because of the unfair restriction put on warriors, since they were able to be archers in Origins, and crossbows other than Bianca actually existed.
Sounds good.
I'm more interested in some good fights than anything story related although a few people who's opinions I trust say the story's not bad.
I thought KE was overrated tbh. After seeing so many people calling it godly, I found myself wondering why s*** took so long to die when I played one.
I think its more about the fact that you can get out of a fight pretty much unscathed, sure they take a lot longer to kill, but you dont die nearly as often as other classes, or so I'm told...
I play on Casual so i wouldnt know about this dying all over the place thing. the only fights I find difficult are the dragon ones, and that's just the last one in Emprise Du Lion, and that one in the Hissing Wastes. (That is after they 'fixed' the thousand cuts and flask of fire exploit)

Because they are not huge dps. KE are more about melee survival with regenerating barriers with a trade off of lower dps, they can't even get close to the sheer destruction a Rift Mage can rain down. I always end up as a Rift Mage since I like to kill things quick and get battle over with.

KE defeats the purpose of being a mage for me. I play mage to control the battlefield from afar, not to wade in like a warrior. Rift Mage all the way for me, too...

I think for those who love the build, it's the novelty of it being so different from other mage builds. For me it's just too slow and draws out battle much longer than I want. I use a lot of electrical because of the stuns, and between Fire Trap, Pull of the Abyss, and Firestorm, it's all over for anything in a few moments.
I agree with the above points but I don't think I am doing a mage again. I don't like being rooted to one spot while casting cause it leaves me open to melee. I am less vulnerable to archers now that I have that ability you pick up in the DLC but I still don't like it. I may stick with warrior or rogue from here on in. I had more fun with my sword and boarder and my female elf archer than as a mage.
I play mage and rogue/scout, I just can't play a warrior, at all, in any game. And the more complicated the class, the more I seem to like it lol.

My kinda gal. I also prefer to just kill sh*t before it can harm me, rather than tank the damage.

Hear, hear. This man speaks the Truth!
Hmm, did I mention I'm another of the proud Rift Mage school when it comes to playing Mages?
What's the most effective way to kill things quickly as a rift mage?
Also, I've always preferred being a necromancer, for roleplaying purposes...

Makes me think of my favourite group. Me (archer), Sera, Dorian and Cassandra. Poor Cassandra is always running all over the place looking for something to hit, because we ranged attackers kill off the baddies before she gets anywhere near them.
Pull of the Abyss plus spamming any spell that has an AOE (and getting your archers to use explosive shot) is great for dispatching multiple mooks quickly. What's the most effective way to kill things quickly as a rift mage?

I'm here to announce that I unfortunately have reached maximum disapproval with Sera.
That's fine, I could always be best buds with her in a different playthrough. The problem is, her dialogue doesn't apply to what actually happened.
My Inquisitor helped an oppressed group like the mages by forging an alliance, and struck a blow against Orlesian interests by placing Briala in power behind Gaspard.
These choices are the opposite of "punching down and hurting people".
Sera won't approve of any alliance with mages or templars as she views both groups as responsible for the present suffering. Had you conscripted the mages she would have approved. She wants the high and mighty from both groups put to work fixing the mess they made.
She views Briala with distrust and feels that Briala is really only out for herself. This is reinforced by what occurs in the ball and how you see Briala setting up her followers to be killed in order to advance the cause. Sera does not approve of that and sees it as an abuse of power.
I don't know, Solas seems to trust Briala to some extent and he's a fairly wise person.
Her hands aren't any cleaner than the rest of the Orlesians, but I suppose she can still be expected to act on behalf of the elves.
It's not about elves for her though. It's really all about everyone. I think to Sera, Briala is little more than just another player in "the game." Solas will see it differently of course. Now Sera is very cynical of anyone who had an older position of power and she even warns the Inquisitor to not get to big for his/her britches. Now I did see it your way and I tried to reconcile Briala with Celene (never been able to support Gaspard) as I did think no matter how in it for herself Briala might be she might still do some good for all elves.

Not in Sera's world-view. She sees the Mage-Templar War as two powerful factions fighting all across Thedas without care for the ordinary people who get caught in the crossfire. She also disapproves if you ally with the Templars. She wants to punish both sides for the mayhem and destruction they caused. In her view siding with either is an attack on the truly oppressed in Thedas
With Briala her disapproval stems from singling out the elves from all the other poor folk who are treated like dirt by those in power. Sure you helped elves but what about everyone else?
Also, you must have done more to annoy her than just those two things...
A caveat here: I'm explaining what I think her reasoning is, not necessarily agreeing 100%.
Yes, that certainly is a way to look at the whole thing.
Nah... I don't remember anything else. Two "greatly disapproves" bear the most weight.
The problem is that I haven't had the opportunity to counter the negative points so far.
Do you have any of her Red Jenny quests open on the war table? Good way to start getting approval back.
I'll get around to those eventually, but that won't do.
I'm planning to drink from the Well of Sorrows, so that's another greatly disapproves.
I'll have to settle for being an arse biscuit.
Well it happens. Viv hates my guts this game especially after I told her I don't have time to do her a favor (well what do you expect, darling? You moved my stuff and told me I was a poor leader so no I won't kill some animal so you can make a potion).
