I've seen a couple of comments that have given me a different perspective on Josie's romance, even though it doesn't fit for me, there are women that enjoy the romance. My preference is to romance the Knight in shining armor character but as others have said, they may want to be the Knight. Maybe it feels as if written for a male, it's hard for me to analyze with my background but maybe it's just written for characters whether male or female that enjoy playing a certain type of player. Idk.

I'd say that it's not written for a male character so much as based on stories which have always been about men. On the one hand simple pronoun flipping opens up the campy fun to female characters which is inclusive and cool, and on the other that story isn't really growing which is sort of a shame?

I think there's probably more interesting ways to have female knightly knights, and swashy swashbucklers but people still find the scene fun.

What if the Quizzy is a Mage, or a Rogue? Renowned warrior engaging in a duel would only really fit if the Quizzy was a "warrior". It fails horribly for a mage Quizzy.

I think it makes about the same amount of sense for any of the classes to be well trained in 1930s adventure film swordplay.

Be careful not to take the line out of context. Your understanding of it would likely change if the entire conversation was posted along with that line.

Then why not have some kind soul post it?

Probably true. LOL. It would bug me but not a big deal. I mean, its Sera. Shes not exactly careful or stuble in her speech.

With how hesitant she was to be in a relationship with an elf, the line seemed fitting and I didn't read into it, what you have.

Edit: besides she basically says the same to every other races just change to noble or whatever. At least I think she does but I haven't played qunari or dwarf.

Well, I did say it was a personal issue and probably not what Sera intended. It would still bug me though.

I can understand wanting to play a type but I must say being on the Sera thread, Sera's romance may be the most enjoyable romance I've done in a game. Even with my issues with the one conversation, her romance is absolutely adorable.

As much as I loved Cass's romance with my Cadash in my first playthrough I gotta agree with you Dani Sera's romance is so wonderfully adorable I just love it! She's just so gosh darn cute.

I don't understand. Is it somehow wrong to show a women engaging in a duel to win her love?  We have women being all kinds of fighters in this setting, why wouldn't a woman that is a renounced warrior like the Inquisitor engage in a duel? Look at it this way, if the scene was written so that only men could engage in the duel and women could not, would that not be sexist?

The better solution to the scene would be to have the option to decline the duel and still win Josie's heart. That way, the player could choose if they wanted to see a duel or not regardless of their gender. That said, the whole point of the romance is to be disney like........so of course theirs a duel for her ladies hand.

Edit:

As Danielle points out, the duel does seem written for those that want to be in the "knight in shining armor" role of this rather typical disney romance. I'll leave it to the ladies to determine whether or not that means it bais for male players or that it just depends on the tastes of the player. Though I do know other female players who really enjoyed being able to fight over Josie's hand.

I agree, I personally don't see the issue with the duel... women can clearly participate in duel if they're good swordfighters (not in old times though sadly) in a world where people don't even care about sex or gender.

A lot of lesbians love to be the "knight in shining armor" themselves and love romances like that - not in my case, though i do like to have a "knight in shining armor" lady romance where instead of PC, is the companion the KISA one.

Sighs, we can only dream until bioware decides to add a gay KISA lady.

While I love Cass and I was fine the romance, I'd agree that Sera's Romance is better. Cass' Romance goes too fast, in my opinion.
My top DA's Romance are are still Morrigan and Leliana though.

Hah, Bioware's nuking my posts.

They really hate criticism of their games. That or EA's forcing them to with the colloquial publisher-gun to the head...

I have trouble keeping up with the acronyms myself. Not for the life of me could I ever logically conclude what the fudge YMMV meant.

Regarding Sera's appearance, I think she's cute. Oh me oh my welcome to crazytown, population me (and some others).

Nah, I think moderators believe you should express your criticism in a different way. I saw a lot of posts that criticize characters' appareance/personality who aren't removed. It's they way you do it that lead to your post being nuked.

You don't understand man, its all an EA conspiracy to force shitty games on us players. Man, I need to join Codex RPG and endlessly rant about how EA has destroyed BIOWARE. NEVER FORGET DA2 and ME3 and NEVER FORGIVE!

*note the massive sarcasm.

Well, you could go troll some other forum. Just a suggestion.

Also, EA isn't just the "publisher", they outright own BioWare and all of its IP. BioWare IS EA since after ME1 was published.

Sera's gets more little things added in (like, the journal updates) which I think helps to spread it out over the whole story and make it paced better.
