*snip*

That's a good one! I'd probably toss this one on her ipod playlist.

Hardly. It fits her personal philosophy remarkably well, particularly that bit about no one being inherently worth more than anyone else. Though it might be more period fitting if we go back a few revolutions, because I think she might enjoy hanging Orlesian nobles on lampposts.

It also fits my favorite (hmm, maybe up to third favorite) content of my iron sights in most games.

I'd also sign myself under what ComedicSociopathy said. It doesn't click.

I think it's really hard (if not a bit odd) to assign modern, real-world, political philosophies to fantasy video game characters. But I'll play along. I don't see Sera as left-wing. There's a bit of posturing about the poor and the downtrodden but she's game to be a state agent isn't she? She also wants to see order restored and it does seem like her order or her idea of it is not very much different from the old order. What she does not want is an absence of state institutions. What she appears to want, in my opinion, is weak state institutions or one's who predatory impulses can be held in check by other institutions i.e. the King/Empress/whoever will be checked by other nobles and the mages will be checked by the Templars who will be held at bay by the Seekers and all of those will be herded by "Jennies" when they get too big for their britches.

None of her ideas strike me as particularly anarchist or socialist (at least not at the manifesto/coherent platform level of such) but sound more like the musings of someone who'd be perfectly happy in a loosely organized benevolent monarchy where centralized powers were sufficiently diffused in order to be less oppressive. She's a bit of a conservative I think (although not along the lines of a modern US version of such as they are rank statists of the highest order despite how much they protest). Now Leliana on the other hand...there's your radical. ;) I'll probably regret having posted this.

*runs away...sorry Cat, wherever you are!

Run, I'm deploying smoke screen for you.

Also, I was wondering where a lot of the old regulars are. You know, back when the thread used to go a mile a minute, we had so many people. Lots of them women. There seems to be a considerably larger amount of testosterone involved in the thread these days. It's... a bit of a shame, I feel.

Bah, perhaps. I was trying to think of positive things to say about her...

A while before, I did have certain fantasies about her traveling along a Malcolm X-like path, having a late adolescent-early 20's period consisting largely of politically uninterested criminal activity, before experiencing a religious awakening and becoming an ardent civil rights activist.

What are the other two?

Wouldn't you like to know.

One is a threat. The other denounced their human rights by atrocities comitted in my eyes.

That makes me barely any better, but I can not help it.

This is how my power duo look at the moment.

I love Sera's purple-ish leather leggings with those boots, and of course the Inquisitrix's thigh high armoured foe kickers, but I'm hoping for some slightly snazzier threads in Hakkon or the Emporium at some point.... so I can obsess about colour choices again.

some of them went drinkquisition, some of them stopped being interested in the game, and others dip their toes in every once in a while but generally have other better things to do

It went so fast because of all the off-topic banter and craziness.  After the earth-shattering kaboom it all went elsewhere so things are more straight-on since the Seranade began its melody once more.  The Other Talk has gotten a little quieter too, though, since a few people have become absent...

I miss the old days.

I enjoyed the vibe that we had here for a while, but I've been around internet discussion groups long enough to know that nothing lasts forever...

Sad but true :(

But with endings come renewal and new life.  Or some such.

I'm still here!

But I also started grad school back in Jan and haven't played any games since then. Now that the first semester is over and I have a little summer break, I have some room to breath... and lots of Sera to discuss!

What I usually find is that a few longer-terms friendships spring from these things. I'm going to meet Dazzle next week when she comes to visit York and I'm involved in at least one non-forum-based activity with an ex-regular here, so it's already been a springboard for other things, and of course this thread still has the potential to develop afresh, so we'll see...

I lurk, and I like to share things. I just don't know if you'll want to see the things I want to share because this group has loved Sera for a long time. I feel like anything I have to offer would be old news at this point.  ^_^
