I would say it's a tie between Tali and Jack. Tali is adorable and sweet like Sera but Jack has the 'F*ck the man, raise a little hell' attitude.

I agree. Sera has Tali's innocence and a degree of Jack's attitude/personality.

Jack doesn't really remind me a whole lot of Sera in personality or story. It's not like there are supposed to be equivalents in both franchises.

They are probably not really equivalents. However, I think there's definitely a certain reasonably visible pattern when it comes to BioWare's general approach to character writing, irrespective of the specific series or game.

Only loosely, imo. Both of them have certain defining character traits that the other lacks. Personally I also tended to get along much better with Jack.

I agree. At least if they are using templates the characters are reasonably dissimilar. I mean I can imagine Sera meeting Jack...

"Oi! Lighten up baldy!"

That meeting would be hilarious. I'm sure Sera would get her to smile somehow, if only for a few seconds before her scowl returned.

Agreed. Their similar only in that they both don't seem to act their age most of the time. Sera at her worst acts like an immature child and Jack is more like an angry, rebellious teenager.

I'd think that Sera's equivalent in the ME franchise would more likely be Kasumi or Ashley.

My 2 cents...

There's no ME equivalent for Sera, she's pretty unique in the BioWare stable of companions, and I like it that way. Same with Merrill, she's unique and I like that too! And while I'm at it, there's no Liara or Sam equivalent in DA, love that too!  Now if I could just get all my girls into the same room... 80463.gif

Lol, Ashley reminds me of her even less than Jack but Kasumi is probably the closest thing to an equivalent I can think of if there was anyone.

Omg, I forgot about Kasumi. That fits better than Jack or Tali. They both steal from rich assholes, have lots of fun and are handy to have around in a fight.

Now all I can picture is Sera in the cockpit of the Normandy pressing random buttons and annoying the hell out of Joker.

Im not sure about the "no Liara equivalent in DA" thing considering the amount of people who think Leliana is Liara just without the blue skin

People are getting hung up on the word "equivalent" (no surprise there) when a better word might be "similar" which does not strip the uniqueness from each character.

Haha, true enough. I can name quite a few similarities between those two right off the bat.

One can certainly make a case for similarities between Liara and Leliana, but I think there are plenty of differences, too. Just cherry pick from the side you wish and endless debates can ensue... ;)

Shepard: Everything going well up here, Joker?

Joker: Sure I...[chair spins wildly] what the sh*t!

[over intercom]: [giggling]

Joker: You sure she's an elf, or a gremlin?

There are similarities, sure. But not enough to say they are even close equivalents. The biggest of them, they fall in love with my female protagonist! Woof! 56259.gif

Huh? Anyone compared Sera to Tali?

Oooh...

Are we going to talk about the awesome Machinist now, as well as everyone's favorite Tempest?

Wow. And it's not even my birthday...

There are some similarities, but I think you could find similarities between any 2 companions if you look for them. I do think they would get along well enough.

I'll try this:

Sera --> Kasumi/Jack

Vivienne --> Miranda

Cassandra --> Ashley

Leliana --> Liara

Iron Bull --> Wrex/Grunt

Blackwall --> Thane

Varric --> Garrus

Dorian --> Vega

Josephine --> Kelly/Traynor

Cullen --> Kaidan

I don't know where Cole and Solas would fit, but then again it's a very loose comparison.

I think Sera and Kasumi would have so much fun together. They would also probably get into lots of trouble. I'm sure Sera would recruit her for her 'steal Inky's underpants mission.' We all know Kasumi has a thing for sneaking around and getting into people's underwear drawer. I can just see them sneaking around Skyhold and messing with everyone.

I imagine in the MEverse, a character like Sera would probably not be in the military or even a merc group, given her issues with authority, but likely an independent "agent" like Kasumi.

Would she still have all her agents, The Friends of Red Jenny or do you think she would be by herself?

I agree that she wouldn't be in the military or a common merc though. If she was by herself, I  could see her being like Kasumi and doing her own thing.

Definitely doing her own thing, Sera has too free a spirit to be leashed by some political structure, which she really really hates.

I guess that depends. People in Mass Effect benefit greatly from having advanced technology at their disposal, which people can steal and use to their own ends, which is pretty much what Kasumi does. With the right equipment, you can gather information, siphon funds and do all sorts of tech-savvy shenanigans to give all kinds of people a hard time all by yourself. On top of that, within the framework of that universe, a "Red Jenny" equivalent can basically be much more focused, since they're not working on behalf of some mistreated servants and the sort. They'd just target corrupt politicians, or politicians in general, CEO's of corporations they dislike or fabulously wealthy murderous scumbags like Donovan Hock. I imagine they'd be in it more for the thrill and the fun and of course for the insane amounts of money.

I for one sincerely wish we could play such a role ourselves in either DA or ME. I'd love to be in control of a swashbuckling scoundrel that gives these sorts of people a hard time, and occasionally plonks one when the occasion calls for it.
