- You can tell Sera that Verichel was her fault.

- You can tell her that holding a grudge against a dead women is stupid.

- You can yell at her about having an awkward heart to heart on a roof top is stupid and childish.

- You can tell her that pulling pranks on the advisers is childish.

- You can also yell at about being a coward when your romance gets serious and she tries to run away because she had a bad dream.

- You can tell her that she gets your nerves a lot in the romance.

- You can call her organization a petty group of criminals.

- You can tell that her doesn't know how to plan things out or think things through.

- And you can flat out call her stupid near the end of the game. Which she will approve of.

You can totally call her on her bull. A lot.

That is true and I did this but it only worked in my qunari PT, I did the exactly same thing in my first PT with an elf, when it came to the ball she did not even dance with that character because the approval was too low. I only got the romance before the Mythal thing because some of my decision with my first character happened to please her.

My point was more about not having the option to address her elven cultural hate which would made sense if you are a Dalish, the Mythal business or her crude jokes like two adults. I found myself a lot more frustrated with her than any other character and believe me Blackwall is a lot worse.

I can understand how that can be a problem.

Sort of like how you can't discuss Dorian's alcoholism, Vivienne's blindness to the arguments of the rebel mages and Solas's flip-flopping on whether the elves are his people. The thing is though you can talk to Sera about her problem with the Dalish, you just can't get her to get over it or be very immature about it. It's a deeply personal issue for her that for the most part she doesn't even want to talk about it with you.

That said we do get a couple serious conversations about the topic. The talk about her wanting to be seen as more then just an elf. Her hatred of the idea of pride and how that might relate to the Dalish and their pride in their misremembered heritage. The talk about her being rejected by the Dalish for not getting their belief's. And of course her story about the baker. So, we do get to talk to her talk about it just not in the way you might have wanted.

I don't remember a conversation about her being rejected by the Dalish, is that after the temple of Mythal? And only if you're involved in a romance with her as well?

Pretty much. Which is why the game feels so experimental.

Well, it really is since they were forced to use Frostbite 3, a shooter engine. They had to hack in all the cinematic stuff, the character detail, CC and a whole host of other stuff needed for an RPG, stuff thats not needed for a shooter.

They even said the switch was one of their biggest hurdles during development

Indeed, it was the majority of the dev cycle. Had they been able to use another modern engine that already had all the rpg support systems, the game itself would likely had been 3x larger.

This sort of gives me some hope that ME: Next will not suffer from the same hurdles, as I assume having worked on DA has helped them figure out the ins and outs of Frostbite, giving them a head start for subsequent projects.

Agree maybe it is my bias talking more than anything but it just more frustrating with her no idea why. Maybe because it gets too close to home lol

Yeah I mean the first thing she says to elves is that she hopes they are not too elfy. I would think my first instinct when someone I just met said something like that to me would be "What the hell does that mean?!"

I mean there is at least one conversation you can have with Solas where you can both apologize to him on behalf of the Dalish, while still being proud of who you are.

The more you interact with her the more chances you get to find out that it's because of all the people in her past who dismissed her as not elfy enough.

Why were they forced to use the Frostbite 3 engine if it would be so difficult to use in an rpg? Was it a Bioware or EA decision?

The latter. EA has officially imposed Frostbite 3.0 as the engine to be used for all its AAA projects for the foreseeable future. It started with Battlefield 4, IIRC.

The Epic Engine was incapable of providing Bioware the power they needed for the PS4,X1 and PC. If they stayed with it, the game may have been criticised heavily for failing to look like a current gen game. I do feel that EA forced Bioware to use Frostbite just to avoid having to spend cash on an Engine that could be heavily modified for RPGs along with EA's plan to have one engine for everything. (I think, this may be false).  But if Bioware can use Frostbite and craft it so that they can start calling it Biobite, we could see a lot of fantastic things from DA and ME. If they don't, they risk shooting themselves in the feet.  That said, DA does seem to be the franchise they use to experiment with.

It wasn't just BioWare, though. All EA divisions are now required to use Frostbite 3.0 for AAA development (Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Star Wars, Need for Speed, FIFA, etc.) Obviously this wasn't a restriction before. Why they decided to make it a requirement is anyone's guess, but I suspect $$$ has something to do with it, this being EA and all.

I don't know if there are options to bring up being an elf in later conversations with her, but my point in this case was more about when you first meet.

I really do not recall, unless it is to break up with her if I am not wrong. Which is sad because it would had made sense that the dalish at least was going to touch that topic, the same way it touches with Dorian and even Cassandra.

I know you can call her on the whole Qunari religion thing but not sure about the rest.

It was an EA mandate that all of its studios use the Frostbite engine for all major game projects in the foreseeable future. It is a move that EA made to consolidate all games onto a single engine to cut costs in both short and long term.

There are other implications of this move which coincides with EA desire to leverage add-on content for increased profits, in that the Frostbite engine is much harder to hack, and subsequently, harder to mod or add player content. Take note that since EA acquired BioWare, there hasn't been a toolset for any of their games released since. It's not a coincidence. I could detail a lot of inside info on this subject but I can't since I am still under an NDA for another 5 years from my previous employer. I really don't need/want the legal hassles.

I think it does because I remember hearing that they have to buy licenses to use other game engines and FB3 is owned by EA themselves

I loved how Sera freaked out in the fade and to be honest, i think that is a reasonable reaction for most people in Thedas. Poor girl is going to either have nightmares for a while or get drunk to forget the fade. She pretty much represents the commoner and their reaction to demons. Only, she has a bow and knows too many ways to either ruin your life, get even or put an arrow in your face.

I wish it was possible to have drinking contests as i could easily see Sera taking part in them and what did happen with Sera's concept art story? That should have been in the game and would have been interesting to hear. Unless it's a tale about how Hawke put their hand in Wyvern **** to recover something with a Sera-y twist on it. Note to self: Keep my copy of a Tale of the Champion away from Sera.

Don't know about you, but I could be fine with the Exalted Plains and the Storm Coast  being taken out of the game if it gave us a tighter, more story-focused style of gameplay. The open area's are pretty and all, but the lack of a central narrative in either of those zones make them annoying to play through.

Id rather have the Forbidden Oasis & Hissing Wastes removed, both are pretty much completely pointless areas IMO
