Sera most probably lacks formal education. That does not, however, indicate she isn't intelligent or smart in her own way.

I said she lacks formal education. This means that she never went to any sort of school or had any tuition, at least after leaving Lady Emmald's household which according to World of Thedas was before the blight, when she must still have been a child. It does not mean that she lacks intelligence. In fact, I'd argue quite the opposite. She's clever and insightful in her own way. You don't get to be the head of an organisation like Friends of Red Jenny without being competent.

Yes I was referring to educations under Lady Emmald's, which it is some years even if it was before the blight. For all we know she could even know how to behave in high society perfectly well. Also having street smarts is different than accessing actual books, which she seems to have a habit of doing. Even Sera general knowledge seems high.

I should perhaps have said that she lacks anything more than a basic formal education, as she was a young child at the time. It is of course clear that she can read and write, and indeed that she likes to read, which likely puts her above most Theodosians, in particular those with whom she interacted before joining the Inquisition...

I think Sera is pretty smart, some of the things she says are quite insightful and indicate a greater understanding of the world and society. You just have to sift through her strange speech patterns in order to find the nugget of wisdom. I am sad to say, not many people bother trying to understand her. They miss out on a lot by taking her at face value.

So the other day I running around the Frostback Basin and got this hilarious bit of banter :-)

Cassandra: Sera, about you and the Inquisitor...
Sera: Right, here we go. What is it from you?
Cassandra: If you are going to pursue this, make it worth it. Be happy.
Sera: You cagey, boxed up, prissy romantic!
Cassandra: Ugh, there's no need to tell anyone that.
Sera: Hey Honey Tongue? We telling anyone?
Inquisitor: Does yelling while we're walking count?
Sera: No. Wait. Yes. Sorry Cassandra! But thanks!

I love the banter that you can interact with, plus it's cute seeing Sera tease Cassandra like they're sisters.

Yeah. There is a much better version of that banter. I can't remember it off the top of my head though. I think it only happens after the confession scene too, so I usually get the first version because I like to bring Bull around with me.
