Oh, you mean in the vanilla game yeah. I thought she said something really harsh in Trespasser, even tho I read comments about her wishing the quizzy and Sera happy marriage or something.
 
I've gotten used to her heh, I don't hate her. I was indifferent with her at first and sometimes annoyed because you can't clash with her but after many pts, she grew on me. She may be all business like and about the Game but she does have her good moments, plus her and my qunari mage disagree in some things, ofc.
 
 
Also, her gift idea. Best gift ever, ktnxbai.

Actually it was in trespasser, it's when you first go through the mirrors and you get to a spot where there is a prompt for a Sera comment. Viv's comment to Sera there just turned me off.

I kind of got tired of Viv's comments in the regular game, so that effected me some.

After Viv makes a nice comment to Inky about the marriage I hoped things would be different. When they went through the mirror and I got the prompt for the Sera comment where she mentions that this wasn't what she was hoping her honeymoon would be like, Viv takes another shot at Sera. After hearing Cass's sweet talk about how Sera looked in her gown and Sera makes a comment about Josie wanting her to pick out a fluffy gown, it was so cute. At least that's what I remember, I knew that when you stick your hand in a flame, it's going to burn but I did it anyway. Viv annoys me something fierce.

Edit: I'm getting close to making another run at Trespassers, so I can really remember what she said. At this point I'm not sure if it was as much a bad comment by Viv as much as it wasn't as good as the comments made by others.

I think she definitely really needed somewhere stable where she felt accepted an wanted for who she is. She needs someone who accepts her on her terms and doesn't belittle her. She was obviously hurt by the incident with her adopted mother and became so sick of being told that she was not a "proper elf" by various different people that she developed that abrasively devensive exterior and dwelled on the injustice and "stupidity" of those who told her she was wrong at every turn. There are clues about it sprinkled through the main game and JoH.

 

I kept saying these things and I think Trespasser underlines that I was right.

She shows that she needed someone to care for (even just as a friend) and a place in which she felt accepted so she could focus her energies on those things instead of dwelling on past injustices. In the Inquisitor and the Inquisition in general a romanced or befriended Sera finds those things. I think in terms of marriage, she's excited because that implies a permanence that she's never known. Even as the inquisition might crumble, her relationship will still be there and she can't quite believe it. As to whether she'd want kids... Maybe in time? She certainly seems to be taking to focusing her energies on helping her lover and friends, so maybe she'd be a good mum in the end...

I think she wants to belong and feel wanted, and of course being family is a shorthand for that (assuming you have a good family situation.) I tend to tie it all up as part of the same thing. I'd be interested to see her diary if you don't marry her, actually. I reloaded to see what happens if you click that dialogue option, and again she seems happy because you're making it clear that you're committed to her, but I never got as far as checking the diary entry...

The second time it got really funny cause Dorian intervened. Actually Uncle, funny, but I did get that quip last night so I think that's in all versions and not just the Seramance. The one I was referencing was prior to that. It's hard to find so I bet people don't notice it and blow right past it. As I recall it's in the first tower you come to in the Fen Harel/Elven theme park bit. Make sure instead of heading straight ahead, to the next Eluvian, that you actually go around to the back of the tower. What you find there is a rampart on fire (with a chest you can loot if you can dodge the flames) but against the back wall of the tower it says "listen to Sera." That's where I got Sera's complaint and Cass's supportive response. But, again, the temptation is to run straight ahead to the next Eluvian. For whatever reason I decided to delay going forward and ran to see if there was hidden loot around the corner and there was but also something more!

Ok could not find a clip of the Sera dialogue I've been referencing but I can show you where I found it. This player did not have Sera in their party but it shows the spot where I got the "listen to..." At 1.50 the player will turn and run to the back of the tower and spot the loot with the fire in front of it. If you turn away from that loot and go to the back of the tower (shown 2.17), and you have Sera, you'll get the prompt. Spoilers abound here!
