I'm glad you see the irony...
Actually, I think the irony's on your end.
I'm pleased that you at least took something from the experience, and you've always been civil, even when we disagreed, so I wish you the best for the next game.
There can only be one Merrill, but at least I doubt that they'll just redo all of DAI's character concepts in the next game, so I'm sure something will come along.
Mean? Hardly. Just grumbling about the (at the time seemingly) inevitable scrap that was coming for no actual reason except that she (is she? homegirl, assumption made) started one, rather than anything specifically directed at her. I mean, seriously, it was like the assumption that "Sera thread = hates Dalish = let's argue".
Anyway, lets leave those coals to cool rather than stoke them up again.
It was specifically in relation to my previous anger with Sera's comments in Jaws of Hakkon, keep in mind.
Glad you were able to work through the Sera Experience for yourself and make your own decision on it anyway. I think she was always going to rub you the wrong way - uh, so to speak - because, well, she hates the things you like. And even if she matures a bit and acknowledges those problems and moves on from them, as she does in Trespasser, it still wasn't going to work in the end. Which, y'know, is fine because that's kinda like real life, and she's not a real person anyway so it's hardly anything for any of us to cry about, is it?
We, the assembled ranks of the Seranade, are all sorry you can't quite appreciate her like we do, though, cos we all think she's awesome!
We can't all like the characters equally though, can we?
On that note, who was your totally best companion in the game, anyway? Curious to know who you actually liked!

Honestly, one of the lines in Trespasser that really put me off wasn't political; it was her apparently not being at all curious about the elven ruins we'd started exploring, and, well, any lack of curiosity is kind of alien to me.
As for the one my favorite character is... I might have said Solas, but that's all tangled up in issues of lies and deception and whatnot, so more solidly, it's probably Dorian. He had issues too--the biggest one is that, instead of providing a truly different Tevinter perspective, he just was someone from Tevinter who was identical to southerners--but was probably the best overall; certainly, he was the one who disapproved of my choices the least, only getting a couple of Slightly Disapproves and enabling me to do his personal quest immediately upon reaching Skyhold. I was even tempted to roll a male character to romance him, but in the end, I don't much like the end of his romance arc in Trespasser, so maybe it's for the best.
The best one in my inner circle, however, was by far Leliana, who was even better than she was in DAO, and her character arc here retroactively enhanced my DAO experience.
