Yeah. I think it started with US-based internet businesses like Amazon, but it's spread to the high streets in recent years. Interestingly, Wal-Mart owned supermarket chain Asda made a story this year of saying that it wouldn't be participating. Is it the same in Wal-Mart in the US?

You know, Fenris has the same opinion of the Dalish as Sera. He doesn't see the point in clinging to the past like they do.

That said, he isn't half as passionate about the subject as she is. I wonder what happened in the past that shaped Sera's views.

She never actually goes into detail, but in Trespasser and the main game she makes comments about having ran into Dalish who rejected her when she didn't "get" being Dalish. The whole experience apparently made her feel broken and inferior, and she's resented elven culture on a account of it.

I think it's because she hates anyone that views themselves as being above everyone else. And the predominant viewpoint held among most of the Dalish (not all) is that they are the only culture worth any consideration at all. Elves born outside of Dalish clans, like city elves, are considered not 'real' elves, lesser beings, in this worldview. To Sera this is another example of undeserved self righteous pride and arrogance that she sees in the ruling noble class of Thedas and therefore she hates and rejects their beliefs.

There are also some mentions of being "the wrong kind of Elf" in the quest in Jaws of Hakkon where you help the injured Avvar with his father's burial rites. It could also be that on leaving Emmald's house, she was sneered at even by city elves for being "too human"...

It's possible, I spose, but since she can be chucked at will (swines!) that might mean no. Bummer.

So I have this idea bouncing around in my head about writing a story of my canon Inquisitor Issala Adaar and her bae, everyone's favorite foul mouthed elf My only reservation is that I've never written fanfic before so I'm a little nervous about the project.

 

You totally should! And, yeah, it is a little nervewracking, but fanfiction sites tend to be very supportive! (I haven't ventured into the wilds of Tumblr and the like, yet....)

 

And speaking of, I finally--FINALLY--finished The Consequences of Custard today. Another writing project means the series will be on hold until the new year, unfortunately, but after that I'll be free to spread more Seradaar fluff.

Well that would just mean some dialogue variations/turning up in different places like Alistair. You can't actually kill her so they're free to bring her back if they choose to. I truly have no idea if they will...

She was an orphan before she was taken in by Lady Emmald so I assume she was in the alienage during that. Also after Emmald's death she may have lived in the alienage before joining the Jennies.

I never bought World of Thedas  Vol 2 but I read her entry when it was posted on Tumblr and I seem to remember that yes she was there as an infant. Pretty sure that she never went back after she left Emmald, though.

Sera marches to the beat of her own drum or is it her own band perhaps? While I like her er,ah, 'comments' she does seem to be two or three fries short of being a happy meal.
