Er... what is Sera holding onto?
I don't think you'd really have to forsake elven culture, would you? Just not try to force Sera into following it.
Sera explicitly says she can't be with you if you believe anything about the Temple of Mythal wasn't lies. The reason for that is that she can't separate those two concepts in her head. To her, following elven culture equals automatically means judging her for not following it.

I think it's highly unlikely that, particularly if the Inquisitor drank from the Well of Sorrows, Sera is dumb enough to think that you're actually forsaking all of that based on her freakout. It's more a clumsy way to ask the Inquisitor not to leave her.

The Inquisitors all could have drunk from the Well for any number of reasons. And in the cases of Elf Inquisitors, Sera's freakout is based on an objection to how "They are going elfy." It goes back to her objection to an elven identity. Plus she says Lavellan's people smell like "Halla arse."
No, no, that encounter would be a disaster. That said, Fenris would get along just fine with Sera.
And there is potential for hilarious banter between her and ol' Zev.

It would require a great deal of willful blindness on Sera's part to somehow not perceive that an otherwise wholly elfy elf suddenly reversed their position based on her being emotional wasn't being completely truthful.
Actually what she says is that she wants you to say that it's lies. That's an important distinction, I think. I have to agree with Xil that she's making sure that you're not going to force the issue. The motivation is as you say but I think she understands that if you're willing to say that it's lies, then it's because you value the relationship more than convincing her to change, so you're not like the other Dalish she has known.Sera explicitly says she can't be with you if you believe anything about the Temple of Mythal wasn't lies. Assuming that is the case, I'm not sure if that is a very practical distinction. It sounds like she would demand you to either change who you are or pretend to be someone you are not in order to be with her.
Well that's the case on the face of things, but I think there's a "let's agree never to talk about it and get back to how we were" element.Assuming that is the case, I'm not sure if that is a very practical distinction. I've heard Sera say "You're going elfy" to Qunari and Dwarf Inquisitors after coming back from the Temple regardless if the PC drank out of the well or not. It's basically her major comeback if you don't agree with her on what she thinks the Creators are. I think it's more personal with the Eleven Inquisitor who may or may not believe in the Creators but it's understandable if s/he would get upset because of Sera's disrespect their people's history and culture.
Am I the only one who thinks it's painfully sweet that Sera takes Inky's last name? I mean, part of it's probably because we have a last name, but I think of what happened with Emmald and how the last time Sera tried to be part of someone's family it fell in on her. And now I have this junior high image of Sera scribbling Sera Lastname all over her journal (and the walls, and her skin, and probably in the baking powder as she and Inky make some Us Cookies).
It is very sweet, yes. And as I think I mentioned before, it makes me wonder about the implications if she's Sera Lavellan.

I think it says a lot. She's willing to take on Lavellan's super elfy surname even though it means that people might hear it and think she's Dalish, because it's her name and she loves her.
Still gonna have a hell of a time trying to pronounce Istimaethoriel when it's time to meet the 'parents', but it's the thought that counts.
My Inquisitor would be sorely tempted to tease her by saying that any guests who mispronounce the Keeper's name become the entertainment at the next feast of Andruil... but maybe not.
She would, however, call Sera "ma vhenan," believing that Sera has no room to complain after having coined the "Inky" name.

I don't think she'd mind. Vhenan's about as elfy as it gets - both Solas and Merrill use it as a term of endearment - but with Inky/Teetness/Honey Tongue, etc. I think she'd be right to expect a cutesy nickname of her own.
"See? They're words that can mean things."

Can't shake the feeling Sera would soften up, but not instantly...
Have some tiny Sera, y'all.

Oooh, guess who's about to run away from Lady Emmald.

Hmmm... I bet her hair wasn't like that when she was at Emmald's place. I wonder how she was made to wear it...

I think so, too. And it's interesting to imagine how characters from different games would react to each other. Like, I would love to see Sera and Isabela interact with one another. And Sera would be even more terrified of Morrigan circa DAO than she is now!
I don't ever take Sera to the Temple, how does she react?
I haven't seen a full playthrough of a Sera in the Temple of Mythal, but I do know she is the only one (I think) that approves of killing the Sentinel Elves. I think she even has specific dialogue while fighting them, although it's possible I'm just not remembering anyone else's.
