Lots of Sera hate in the Andromederp forum. Best avoid the losers.
Ran into a lot of Sera hate on reddit... in a discussion about Morrigan. :/// Wtf people.

Having Sera, Vivienne, and Blackwall as favorites has kind of made me immune to random character hatred at this point, lmao, but it still can be annoying because if you're going to talk, you have to decide whether or not you'll challenge that perspective about Sera or let it rest as not to derail the topic.
I'm glad Sera is so complicated because it makes her so rewarding, but it does make talking about her obnoxious sometimes. ![]()

Aw, I hadn't heard that Viv-Sera interaction before. I tend to avoid bringing them together because I find their banter stressful lmao, but that's cute.

Heh! I bring them together a lot, but then I like to hear my companions gripe at each other (on occasion! Not all the time!

Hrm I do like some of the griping. I love Sera and Solas together, lmao, Dorian and Blackwall are fun, and Alistair-Morrigan is amazing. It's possible I just didn't want a repeat of Isabela-Aveline (which I know some people love! But I found the some of the gendered nature of their bickering annoying at times) so I just didn't use them as much as I realized they were gonna be so antagonistic and not that it's actually stressful in execution.

Vivienne is a great character and I like her in small doses but I can't take her out regularly. I can only take so much of her relentless condescension at a time...

Dorian, Blackwall and Sera has been a fun squad to roll with in my current Seramance, it's a great mixture of hilarious banter and petty squabbling.
I personally enjoyed the Aveline and Isabela banter because of how it progressed over the game, as they slowly became friends, so by the third act their banter lacks any of the venom and no-holds barred insults from the start of the game. While Isabela's barbs about Aveline's appearance are cruel, she typically only delivers them in response to Aveline making aspersions and looking down on her lifestyle.
Aveline and Blackwall are a tad judgmental, so they tend to instigate the bickering far more than Isabela and Dorian do.
Part of the reason I never warmed to Vivienne compared to Morrigan, was because Origins seemed to suggest many times that Morrigan's abrasive attitude was a defense mechanism to prevent people getting close, in addition to her isolated upbringing and Flemeth's parentage leaving her socially maladjusted. It's likely that Vivienne's cold demeanour is (probably) affected as well, but she clearly revels in using the facade of Madame de Fer as a means to advance herself in the Game.
The problem is that unlike Morrigan, we never see the mask drop (save for a brief glimpse into her mind from Cole), so we don't know how much is the woman underneath and not the persona she dons. For all we know, the "real" Vivienne might truly be that mean?

By the way, on my first Seramance and about to hit Halamshiral. Do I need to complete the Verchiel quest to get the dance? ![]()

Verchiel is Sera's personal quest, if I'm remembering it right, so you definitely need to complete it to further the romance. I recommend doing it before Halamshiral.

Blackwall, Sera, and Dorian is my favorite group! My canon had them most of them time, swapping Dorian out for Solas sometimes because Sera-Solas made me laugh so much. Blackwall-Dorian have a great arc pre and post Revelations, and Sera is fantastic with both of them.
I get the intent behind Aveline-Isabela, it's just not fun to me. I do like the idea of the evolution of their arc though, and their final friendship is great.
Yes, you must do Verchiel (+ her romance quest) before Halamshiral to get the dance! When you do her romance quest, if you haven't already (I don't know if you can do it out of order? I've always done Verchiel first), make sure you talk to Vivienne and take her suggestion.

Sera is the youngest companion we've ever had. How old is she in the beginning of DAI? 17?
No. She's an adult.

So, like 18-19. Though 17 would still be considered adult in Thedas, I'm pretty sure.

Sure. I think the age of majority for dwarves in Orzammar is 14. But I don't think they would allow players to romance a child, regardless of it not being the real world.
I'm trying to track down the tweet, but somebody asked a dev what Sera did in between DAI and Trespasser and they joked that 'she went from 18 to 20'.

So it's pretty ambiguous, but I still doubt they would show a sex scene with a minor, where we can clearly see her bare breasts and butt.

I do mean it when I say that part when Sera starts panicking and then finds reassurance in her beloved's mere presence was the sweetest romance moment in the whole franchise.
That was one of my favorites, too.

"Do you hear me? She makes it OKAY!!"
The most adorable thing. A litlle beneath its real potential without an actual cutscene, though.
Maybe someone could draw a fanart at least! That is, someone who isn't me could pay someone who takes comission requests.

"So yes, 'love'. Lots of it. Who cares against all of everything?"
"It's because of love that 'everything' had better watch out!"
That's the bit that made a playthrough with any other LI impossible for me.

My initial response to Sera was pretty much what I expected, based on what I knew about her going in. I almost felt like I needed a translator to understand her, even with subtitles turned on. I'm the sort that generally considers fart jokes to be juvenile, and I hate pranks. The Qunari Inky I'm playing was willing to give her a chance, though - and she's growing on me.
She's still somewhat of an enigma to me, but she has some sort of street wisdom that I find endearing. She seems to be worming her way into Inky's heart, and I'd be surprised if Inky wasn't worshipping at the altar of Sera by game's end.
Great - if polarizing - character.
