She does make it hard to romance anyone else doesn't she?
Poor Blackwall and Cullen are never getting romanced at this point. I mean, I want to, but then Sera comes along all smiley and perfect and funny and cute...

I'm not quite sure how I managed to romance Josephine and Solas with female Inquisitors. Those two have no chance.Poor Blackwall and Cullen are never getting romanced at this point. I mean, I want to, but then Sera comes along all smiley and perfect and funny and cute...

I romanced Josie with a female because I'd just finished a Cassmance and didn't want to roll another guy. In both cases i wanted to romance them with a human noble and to me that equals British VA. Just my prejudice, I know, but it would've meant a human with the same voice twice in a row which I didn't fancy.. I still need to finish my Solasmance, actually... Even romancing Solas with a believing elf, I found myself incapable of not being friends with Sera. I am weak...
I'm always friends with Sera too, haha. I've had characters who had companions leave or didn't' recruit companions or was hated by many, but they're always friends with Sera. I am also weak. But it just always makes sense to me, somehow......or I try really hard to find ways to justify it....or something.....
I haven't done any romance more than once except for Dorian, and that was because I couldn't decide on him or Cass for one character so I played both, then picked Cass for that one, so I rolled another one for Dorian. I really wanted to get through all of them! But I still have to finish Solas and do IB and Josie, so Idk if that's gonna happen anytime soon. ![]()
My favorites are Sera, Dorian, and Blackwall so far, and I imagine if I keep playing this game and repeat a romance, it will be Sera.
I love Cass as a character and as a friend for my Inquisitors, but I found her romance quite disappointing after Sera...I romanced Cassandra in my first playthrought, but I now stick with Sera. Much more fun. What a cutie pie. And she gets the funniest banter.

Not even just that. I find the idea of her being a romantic funny in terms of the book scene with Varric, but boring in terms of buying her flowers and reciting poetry...Just two cutscenes. Bleepin' TWO.

I thought it was cute, but overall felt the romance was a bit lacking compared to some others. Perhaps because since that is so similar to the friend path, the romance doesn't feel as additive as other ones. I also got Divine Cass, so that was a disappointing ending
.
It's weird to compare it to the Cullen romance though, which was added later (and the other late addition romance feels sparse at times) and is an adviser romance, because it feels like it has more going on there. I wish Cass had another scene at least, shrug. She's still wonderful. Just not my favorite romance since she requires me to play a man and there's some things I wish were a little different.
Actually now with Trespasser factored in, I'd probably shorten my favorites list to just Sera and Blackwall. I think Cullen has a nice arc and a lot of content but his romance just isn't for me, haha. Dorian's is nice and realistic, but I dislike knowing that there's not real closure there especially if he's gonna be in da4. I don't think they've handled previous LIs in later games that well (in terms of them being a LI) so having that out there makes me a bit anxious.
Yeah I think that's part of it with Cass. The romance adds little to her character. I too got home her as Divine. So, what kind of rivalry do you think would ensue between Sera and an archer rogue Lavellan?

The sexy kind.
No, seriously. Imagine the sparring sessions, the tension-fueled target practice, seeing who can split an arrow at 200 yards... be neat if they had different specs. Flashy tempest versus stealthy assassin, for example.
While tempting, rogues are already subpar in DAI, and the idea of being a rogue and always bringing another along in gameplay doesn't seem that appealing.
I don't think archer rogues are subpar at all. It's the dagger-wielders that are squishy. While tempting, rogues are already subpar in DAI, and the idea of being a rogue and always bringing another along in gameplay doesn't seem that appealing.

Hnnnn, you mean in a Josie romance then? Or you're just going to leave Sera at base?
If it's just about skills, I could see it playing out like it did when Varric and Sebastian got all... twitchy about their archery skills. Though that was rather one-sided. Varric was pretty aggressive, I think Seb was just confused.
If it's a Dalish thing, I guess they could compare how, where, and why they picked up their skills? The different uses for them? I do imagine a rogue or warrior Lavellan would have an easier time getting along with Sera than a Keeper's apprentice, so I could see a friendly rivalry developing there. Less scary demon stuff to worry about, more focus on sticking arrows through baddies' faces.
Actually, I was thinking possibly of romancing Solas with this one. Maybe. If I ever get around to it.

Archers are kinda like mages that can't do barrier.

I don't think Solas is the best option for an unapologetically elfy elf in DA:I. I'd go Blackwall, Iron Bull, Cullen, or Josie for that, as I think they're the only ones who either say positive things about the Dalish or remain neutral. (Possible I'm missing some IB content there though, I don't use him as much).
Why do you say that, out of curiosity? I mean he's an interesting romance for an elfy-elf, but when I rolled my very Dalish elf mage with the intent of romancing Solas, I just couldn't do it to her. I ended up romancing Cullen with her.
I did romance Solas with a rogue though! And I think rogue is the best class in the game, so I definitely disagree with the assertion that it's subpar. ![]()
As for Sera and an Archer Lavellan rivalry, that'd be fun. I imagine. I can see a lot of conflict there. Lavellan probably learned her skills from her clan, drawing from a long tradition (probably tied to Andruil?), Sera had to learn on her own. So them feeling competitive about it could have some deeper meaning to it, where Lavellan is trying to prove the validity of the Dalish traditions & culture, and Sera feeling like she wants to prove that she is just as good even though no one helped her, etc.
