What?If the Dales fought in that Blight, Sera's ancestors may have died and you wouldn't have Sera in the present.
If it wasn't for their isolationism, we would have been stuck with Solas as the only elf in Inquisition and Thedas would have one less Red Jenny.

Just bringing the topic back to Sera, rather than to have it turn into another elfy thread. What?
But, ya, Sera's ancestors were in the Dales, she had to have pure elf blood all the way back and to her.
I would think all elves of the south could trace their lineage (or at least assume lineage) to the original Dalish. Edit: Except Solas, of course, who was taking a nice nap during all this, probably.

Well, mostly yes. Some might've come from Tevinter if they managed to escape.Just bringing the topic back to Sera, rather than to have it turn into another elfy thread.

In normal war time you might have a point. The elves might negotiate with Tevinter or some such to be left alone. But it was a blight, and darkspawn are an indiscriminate threat to all. Justifying it by saying "but the humans coped" is ridiculous post facto rationalisation. Sera and Cass had a point and were not "victim blaming".Unless the elves were violating a mutual defense pact with Orlais, which they weren't, I wouldn't call this wrong. It might be unwise, but I see no reason why one should be morally obligated to help a rival nation in wartime.

Then I suppose we must disagree on the subject.

Someone should draw a picture of the Inq letting Sera cut her hair... with a knife...
Sera's messed up hair was a great part of her visual character.
I love when you get the banter between her and Dorian about her hairstyle and her refusal to use, as she puts it, "diamond studded hair cutter whatevers", priceless

That's annoying, but the vile bit is when she goes into victim-blaming the Dalish for their state.
You mistake the word "victim" for a privileged status that puts you above criticism and responsibility.
The Dalish had their part in Red Crossing's events. Likewise, the refusal to join the battle against the Blight that came before didn't help create peace between races.
It doesn't justify the way elves have been treated by humans . It is simply an acknowledgement of the wrongdoings in both parties.

Remember how, in the first Dragon Age game, we had to recruit the Dalish to help us stop the Blight and (assuming you didn't just sacrifice them to the werewolves) they agreed to help rather than leave Ferelden to die?
Sera's not concerned with national rivalries where the Dalish refusal to help during the Second Blight is concerned. What she cares about was that the Dalish chose to leave the people of Orlais to die rather than let go of old grudges - like the one that Lady Emmaud's lies caused her to have against the baker whose life she spent too much time making hell - is not something she can approve of.

I admire any modder's hard work, but I think Sera's perfect the way she is so I won't be modding her appearance... ever.
I'm especially sad when she gets "dolled up" - no more acne scars or flushed cheeks, no more choppy haircut.
Heh, it happens with many characters.
Putting aside the redesign, I don't understand why the hairs looks so bad.

I have nothing in principle against appearance modding, and those that change her makeup or make her appearance closer to the darker-skinned concept arts are totally fine with me, even if I don't use them myself. I can't for the life of me figure out how anyone would consider the above an "improvement" though.

If doesn't change the fact that many innocent people died and wouldn't if the elves helped. And even without considering the Orlesians, it was an enormous Risk for the elves as well. The Blight might've spread to the Dales, and even if they would've stopped it, part of their territories would've been corrupted by the Blight. I'd call it a stupid choice, other then wrong.
'Twas foolish on multiple levels.
Blight taints everything around it, making farmland unusable, spoiling water, etc., which can lead to famine. IIRC, it takes decades if not centuries to recover. And the longer it goes on, the greater the darkspawn horde grows, the harder it is to defeat, and the more likely it is to spread into the Dales.
You can spend your resources and troops helping your neighbor fight the blight now, or spend them later dealing with the inevitable onslaught of refugees. Even if your policy for dealing with Orlesian refugees is to kill them as they try to cross the border, you're still spending resources to do that. Even with all of the hostilities between them, Orlais stood ready, willing, and able to support Ferelden in their efforts against the fifth blight.
The Dales could have had a grateful ally, but instead won themselves a bitter rival.

Sera tells me she got Inky a hat, drew a picture of Corywhazzit on it, filled it with apples, and people beat it with sticks. I've heard that apple pectin is good for the hair. Too bad Inky doesn't have much (and it probably wouldn't fit over her glorious horns, anyway).
So Inky goes off to survey her followers about an appropriate gift for Sera, and still ends up empty-handed. Sera didn't mind. At all.
This is developing into one of the sweetest - and oddest - video game romances I've ever experienced.

Awww, that's one of my favorite scenes. She's so excited to see you and give you her gift, because what's better than commandeering a hat Cole would definitely wear on his head?
I'm glad you're enjoying her romance! It's amazing. She's amazing. Happy sigh.
