It was not a territorial spat or a bit of political manoeuvring dressed in military uniforms.  IT. WAS. A. BLIGHT.

To be fair though, it didn't stop the Orlesian Wardens from heeding Loghain's decree they were banned from entering Ferelden during the Fifth Blight. The risk to their own people from Loghain's forces and the Civil War, lead (most of) the Wardens in Orlais to decide to stay put, even if it meant allowing Ferelden to fall as the Darkspawn horde remained unchecked and unchallenged.

Nor did the Warden treaties prevent the Dwarves from failing to heed them immediately during the Blight, using the legal loophole that technically they needed a King to lend aid, allowing them to continue squabbling over their succession crisis.

Human (Elven, Dwarven and Qunari) nature means that even a Blight doesn't always takes precedence over old politicking between rivals.

The same is probably true of the situation in the Dales during the Second Blight. The Dalish might have felt that between humans who aren't fond of them and Darkspawn out to kill them, they would do better securing their own borders rather than sending their soldiers elsewhere. For all the Dalish knew, sending the Emerald Knights out of the Dales to fight alongside the Orlesians, could mean that they'd be less defended if the Darkspawn or humans decided to seize the advantage and attack them while their forces were deployed elsewhere?

Loghain also made that concern his priority and look at where it got him.

What other options did they have though? What were they supposed to do? Declare war on Fereldan and fight Loghains forces just in order to get to the Darkspawn forces in the south of Fereldan?

No one believed it was a Blight until the Archdemon showed up. Outside Ferelden, no one was paying much attention besides Orlais.

The refugees pouring into the Free Marchers could be seen due to the civil war as well as darkspawn raids.

Even after the Blight there were doubts outside Ferelden that it was a Blight due to how quickly it ended.... after all, it was a premature Blight thanks to Archie.

As for Wardens outside Ferelden, they could just say, "okay, we won't enter," and then start gathering forces outside since their goal is to end Blights, not save nations (unless it helps end a Blight).

Anyway, Ferelden's Blight was pretty unique, it was unlike the previous ones.

To compare the two is like comparing Zevran and Sera. Similarities, but very different. Actually, Zevran and Sera are more alike than the last two Blights are alike... it would be more like comparing Nathaniel with Sera.

After they were stopped at the border, they decided to try to sneak one person in, and Riordan volunteered.

Who is no one? The Grey Wardens, including the Orlesian branch along with Empress Celene and King Cailan were all going with the blight theory.

It was mostly Loghain who wasn't buying it.

I wish Sera would talk a little more about her negative experience with the Dalish.

In what circumstances did such encounter happen? What did they say to one another?

Well, not only Loghain. Others were doubtful since it started and continued in a weaker way compared to the others. Many did believe it was one though.

That why I said "(most of) the Wardens in Orlais) in the earlier post, not counting those like Riordan who risked sneaking in anyway.

Perhaps Sera tried running off to find Dalish at some point in her youth (since we often hear City Elves talk about the idea), only to be disappointed in what she found or get rejected by them for being too "human", leading her to develop a grudge?

Could explain why she's so evasive when you ask how she learned to be such a great archer. It would be very in-character for Sera to hide that she might have gotten some pointers from the Dalish, as she doesn't want them to steal all the credit for something she's  good at. Emmauld already ruined cookies for her, so she'd refuse to let "Elfy-elves" ruin archery for her too.

Your original statement sounded like the bulk of the Orlesian wardens chose not to help Ferelden. They did try, but were stopped at the border.

Hmm... it is odd that she won't talk much about how she learned her skills.

I guess I've had the impression that she is largely self-taught.

I've been taking songs from Hamilton and rewriting them to make them about my Inquisitor, and the more I listened to one of the songs from the soundtrack the more I realized that I needed to make it the big romantic song to close the first act with. Link to the original included in case you're curious as to how mine compares to it. Put it under a spoiler tag because of the length of the post. I hope y'all enjoy.

^ I love that, Bowie!

I posted this before but this is one of the many, many  songs that make me think of the Seramance.

Spoiler

As far as the Dalish go... I could see her meeting up with a clan or an individual at some point, and saying something "stupid" (as in, she's confused and doesn't understand something and phrases it like only she can) influenced by her upbringing, and a Dalish calling her a flat-ear or "practically a shemlen" because of her ignorance. And because of her experience with Lady Emmald, where her race was unhappily brought to her attention and she was too much of an elf, now she's got some other elves saying that she's too human for them, and she would go on the defensive. And Sera has an aggressive defense.

By the time we meet her she's decided that she doesn't want to be An Elf or A Human, she justs wants to be Sera.

I'm usually reluctant about not having Sera in my party at any given time, since I generally enjoy her banter with the rest of the group the most and don't want to miss anything, especially when she goes back and forth with Solas. The only problem character is Cole (provided your Inquisitor is romancing her), since his banter can potentially result in her changing the pet name.

I think my favorite combo with Sera is having her, Bull, and Dorian around for The Ulimate PARTY Party. But I also adore her BFF relationship with Blackwall, and I enjoy her interactions with Cass, Vivienne, and Solas... she eventually warmed up to Cole in my playthrough so it wasn't that bad.

I don't mind it changing the nickname too much, because I like all of them. I guess it would kind of throw you off if you were used to hearing one in particular, though!
