Sorry I'm not informed at all on Lara Croft's entire history as I only played the reboot, but if they were to make a queer reveal won't that make her bi instead of gay? I thought she had relationship with guys in previous games and if I'm not mistaken there were a couple of references to dating or meeting guys in the reboot as well. I did see the subtext in the game but I brushed it aside cos I just don't trust most companies to keep it anything but subtext. Best not hope for diversity only to be hit with the heteronormative stick.

Actually you're mistaken. There's nothing like this, Sam talked about "cute dudes" and that's all. Nothing about Lara.
There are still ppl who think Ellie and Riley from TLOU are just friends, no matter how many times the dev will say that both are in love and Ellie is gay. smh. Be still in denial.
Edit: and as much i'd like Lara to be gay (she never striked me as straight or someone with a sexuality at all), i'd prefer she stays ambiguous because many ppl would be disappointed if she ended up gay, and the same for lesbians. The best, neutral way is to make her ambiguous and add subtext here and there. Besides, Tomb Raider is heavily action oriented game and the devs already have said that Lara has no time for relationships in her life.

It's also not something that ever really needs to come up, so it's quite easy for them to leave it ambiguous because they never need to mention it.

I imagine the most common reaction would be: "Lara is a Lesbian? Seriously? Thats HOT!"
Im not sure about that, some people really didn't like the implied relationship between Lara & Sam in the reboot, if they became an openly lesbian couple im sure alot of the hyper straight people would be like "they retconned Lara into a lesbian to push the gay agenda" & "im never buying any TR games again untill Lara gets fixed"
Is sad but id guess alot of people would have similar opinions ![]()

Well, such people don't matter.
Also, I really detest it when people somehow feel the need to create ambiguous sexual orientations. Of course, that's better than just having them be straight all the time, but still... someone, be it the author or the publisher, needs to have a bit more backbone.

Lara was always an ambiguous person, i don't see the reason to give her a sexuality where she never had any in first place though.
And yeah, backbone is needed..... we've yet to get a gay protagonist, woman or man and when other characters are something other than straight, it's "ambiguous".

Well, the game Bully by Rockstar had a bisexual protagonist. You could get a health boost by kissing girls or (certain) boys. And it wasn't a quick little peck either. Had to give them flowers and everything.
(sure it was optional, but that game came out in 2006. Quite a step back then)
It's not a gay protagonist yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

Bi protags are fine too, they're needed.
And i didn't know that hah.

Ah ok. I guess I was mixing up who said what.
Also I can understand why some people prefer ambiguity, though I'm concerned that it can be used by some people/developers as an excuse not to show lgbt characters.

Well, considering the amount of protest we get just for gay NPCs... Very few companies would have the guts to make a gay protagonist. Rockstar might since they love to raise controversy, but other than them...
So, how about that Sera? (gotta stay on topic)

I never played those games myself but that's pretty funny. Also Dorian's VA revealed, I remember him from Eastenders and he was in GoT briefly too. Great casting so far with the VA's. Would love a vid with Robyn Addison at some point, that would be sweet. ![]()

I don't think that's gonna happen since she's been revealed already.
It would be cool though.

Hey you never know, perhaps after they reveal Blackwall's VA they might release something on the other character's VA's. Perhaps I'm too optimistic at times lol.

There were no references to such relationships in the reboot, though her interactions with Sam did raise a few questions with regards to how the two might be romantically involved.
There was a rumor some time ago that Lara was originally intended to be a lesbian in the reboot, an idea that was apparently scrapped mid-development. Still, if true, it would explain a few things.
