Anime has been getting it right these days, especially this year where just about every anime had a lesbian couple or subtext. Strawberry panic was quite the roller foster ride...felt bad for the blue haired girl but felt better seeing her still trying to flirt in the manga continuation

As a rule of thumb, in a relationship between two women as usually portayed by movies, tv series and the like, one of them either dies horribly, cheats on the other (often with a man), or outright "discovers" that she's not really into girls and settles down with a nice guy to have a "proper" family and all that.

Question about unhappy lesbians.
Is the problem that the relationship is always unstable or just general never getting a happy ending? I mean, is it okay to have a perfectly functional romance, but unhappiness around that - like, heroic sacrifice?
Are you saying I'm unhappy? Cos I'm not. 
But in regards to this question, I've been generally happy with the queer female options I've played in the DA universe. I'm just hoping we'll get some real closure with Leliana in DAI for those who romanced her and for Sera, would love it to end on a happy note, just give me some freakin gay fluff pls. 
I reckon her romance arch might be fun and breezy at times but I also want it to have some conflict to it, make it feel real but for it also to be salvageable, you'll have your highs and lows with her but you'll pull through. Something like this would be nice.

you mean Shizuma, but thing is she fixes her problems by the end of the series, Tomoe is still creepily affectionate still by the end

I loved that movie also, for me it's hard to beat the Piper and Lena combination. There aren't many out there but I have found a handful of happy endings which is still a drop.

Eh...Jack Gleeson actually seems like a cool guy too, but it probably wouldn't stop me from only seeing Joffrey anymore if he showed up in anything else. I'm like that. :S

Not really, a lot of times a lesbian character is played as comic relief, and that's when they aren't using them to fuel either fanservice or evil tropes.

I was mostly talking about true yuri anime were its a the primary focus of the story, not the ones were its a secondary plot and for comedy reasons, for example Strawberry Panic had very little to no fanservice in it and the comedy was tame at best, the only yuri anime that has yuri as the secondary plot and is more comedy than anything that I really liked was Yuru Yuri now thats a very funny and cute anime
