Maybe not now, but I'm certain sometime soon a show aimed for kids will take the plunge and have a LGBT friendly character in it. And after the initial backlash from the fundies is over with other studios will follow

I was unaware of this. Modern day Disney is Evil incarnate and I try not to support them in anyway....Then they bought Marvel and Star Wars. I had to reprimand myself when I went to go see Guardians of the Galaxy.

I'm loving the awkward stuff though, hugely entertaining, but the Qunari background is as a Vashoth who has never been part of the Qun. It doesn't follow that a Tal-Vashoth from birth would necessaily have been socially awkward does it? Especially if the merc company has always been around other races.

Haha, yeah. Who cares if you don't have to be awkward, its so much funnier to play awkward. 
Ok so being serious about this awkward route, my concern is the 'awkward' lines - if there are any - will not be the 'romance' lines. In previous games, romance lines were invariably flirty (or at least bold). Do you think instead of a click heart option which often led to Hawke saying things I had preferred they didn't there may by multiple routes to pull off romance? A flirty one and an awkward one for instance?

That can be done . Cose from what I could see (During the vid with female Human Inquistor)..they are using the same old wheel for dialogue .
I believe it can be done , the difference is that instead of giving us 1 heart (like in DA2) for flirt options...we could get 2 or maybe 3 . I think in DAO ....i felt I had more choices with Alistair during the romance then Leliana . With leliana was hit on her , she confess , get akward and cute...then bedroll .
Alistair at some point , I could be nice and gentle...or be army girl and tell him to get it on with and he litteraly melt right there in front of you
So this said...hopefully when a romance is initiated , we could get maybe 3 tones of voices : kinda like in Mass effect wheel .

So if romance....it should be like this:
1-Shy and akward (merill)
2-Normal and mature (Aveline though she was more oblivious)
3-flirty and forward (Bela/zevran)
or maybe..we get more. Im hoping for more..cose that wheel is round...and round....so it could get many trees stuck to it

Yes this is my hope as well, and agree that DA:O seemed to offer more nuanced routes to romance, allowing you some flexibility on approach depending on character style.
Personally I like the conveneience of the heart but would like the option of turning it off and allowing my character to form a romance through interaction and getting to know the person I'm romancing rather than just clicking the 'sleep with me' button and watching with horror as my protag says things out of character.
