Yeah, the bow string is on the top side of her arm. No way she can draw the bow that way. Oh well, minor detail is minor.

LOL That's Orochimaru , a vilain in a manga that has everything about him as a snake. So during the whole manga , he does that...alot .  It become like his trademark...

Its called a hand guard cause it guards the part of the bow you hold with your hand, it also acts as a melee weapon if enemies get to close so its part of the bow....not her hand
