What surprises me is that DAO only had Partial Nudity listed for it and DA 2 just had Sexual Content listed......but with both Nudity and Sexual Content listed makes me wonder how things are gonna go down in DAI lol could we see Sera naked???? lol

psht, I hope so... well, I didn't mean it like that... actually, I guess I kind of do.

It's a mature game, mature themes, it deals with romance, death, decisions, attachment, etc... I think not putting nudity and the like in a game like this is more of a statement than including it. In fact, I dare say the inclusion is necessary, and the exclusion is sabotage.

And there's actually room to explore other facets of a character in the physical romance scenes, but we never see it because, A ) dryhumping has its place, but COME. ON. (I understand tech, time, money are finite), and B ) "Only kids play games." Mass Effect got branded a "sex sim"... *sigh*

There's no need to be gratuitous, either, Bioware typically respect their characters.

No, just because it is mature, doesn't mean that it MUST have nudity, it's not mandatory. "Mature" encompass things like death, grey morality, nudity/sexuality, etc....but mature materiel doesn't need to use ALL of them, a mature work can be about war, its violence and the psychological effect on the persons, but it would still be mature without nudity. Take Fallout New Vegas, it doesn't have nudity, yet it is a very mature game.

 

And the true "maturity" is more in the treatement of an element than the plain presence of it, gratuitous nudity is not, in any shape or form, mature.

 

Those ESRB ratings are a exercice of meaninglessness, seriously.

DA2: Blood and Gore, Language, Sexual Content, Violence

 

So now its 'nudity' instead of 'partial nudity' and 'strong language' instead of 'language'...

 

Here are the descriptions:

 

 

• Blood - Depictions of blood

• Blood and Gore - Depictions of blood or the mutilation of body parts
• Intense Violence - Graphic and realistic-looking depictions of physical conflict. May involve extreme and/or realistic blood, gore, weapons and depictions of human injury and death
• Language - Mild to moderate use of profanity
• Nudity - Graphic or prolonged depictions of nudity
• Partial Nudity - Brief and/or mild depictions of nudity
• Sexual Content - Non-explicit depictions of sexual behavior, possibly including partial nudity
• Strong Language - Explicit and/or frequent use of profanity<
• Violence - Scenes involving aggressive conflict. May contain bloodless dismemberment

 

So now we have a lot of foul-mouthed characters or some very foul-mouthed characters... Who? Even money says Sera.

Non-explicit sex, but graphic nudity... That makes me think the two could be unrelated. Possibly naked corpses. *squick*

 

They upped the ante on language and nudity, otherwise it seems to be standard Dragon Age fare with ritual dismemberment on Tuesdays and everything. The question remains: will there be cheese? We must know!

Umm... I think what I said got lost in translation. Nudity and/or sex are (obviously) not the mark of a mature narrative. But in the case of Dragon Age Inquisition, it is hopefully a mature narrative (the ESRB is indicative of that, if nothing else), and DAI is a narrative that includes romance and sex, so...

I just checked the ESRB ratings for all 3 ME games: partial nudity is the most we got there. So there's more than that in DA:I.

Well, 'tis true that Broodmothers are meant to be something... special, the way I understand the lore. You do not stumble upon a Broodmother every ten minutes in the Deep Roads, as opposed to Hurlocks, Genlocks and assorted Darkspawn/Ghouls.

 

Think rarer than Ogres, more common than Archdemons. In the entire series, we've seen exactly FIVE Broodmothers (One in Bownammar/The Dead Trenches/near Anvil of the Void; three in Kal'Hirol; The Mother in Dragonbone Wastes). We've also seen ONE Archdemon, and COUNTLESS Ogres.
