Well to be fair, Liara's romance continued normal in 3.
And to be honest, given how 3 ends all the romances could be called tragic at that point. If you're gonna make people sad, make them sad equally I suppose.
Maybe in 3 , but in 2 it wasn't and if you don't get the DLC...let say the damn collector can go kill themself . lol My shep will stay in the normandy docked !

Jacob romance ending was hilarious. Thane, I'll give you that, but his death was meaningful and it's ending was satisfying.You also knew even in ME2 that he was slowly dying. Liara sending Shepard to switch on some terminals, was romantic I guess...

I wasn't a fan of how they wrapped up Thane's romance arc in ME3, but then again I blame it entirely on the original writer's departure. It was a fear I'd had well before the game came out.
I'm going to be playing as a Human Inquisitor and I want to get along with all of the companions, but I feel like it will be an uphill battle to get Sera's friendship because I'm going to be playing as the very kind of person she despises, a human from a Noble Family.
Hmm you see this makes me all the more interested to try out a human Inquisy to romance Sera, dat contempt, I will win her over!

Leliana also commits suicide in US ending if non-hardened, but it's a matter of choice. It's highly unlikely we see an unhappy ending for a lesbian romance, especially from Bioware. So your romance with Sera is safe.
