Yeah the anime does have a different ending from the manga but it still ends just the same really though thanks to the OVA episode, the manga is better though

Honestly I would prefer it to be visible so people could learn that this kind of things happens on TV to this day, I actually think it happens more often recently, because there are more lesbian characters on TV, but still most of them fall under homophobic tropes.
Though I'm under impression that few years ago they tried harder to make excuses - now they see no problem in insinuating corrective rape works and showing men straight up turning gay women.
